Where do you go when nowhere is safe? After a deadly virus wiped out most of Earth's population, the world is a terrifying place. Eighteen-year-old Eve has never been beyond the heavily guarded perimeter of her school, where she and two hundred other orphaned girls have been promised a bright future in The New America. But the night before graduation, Eve learns the shocking truth about her school's real purposeand the horrifying fate that awaits her. Fleeing the only home she's ever known, Eve sets off on a long, treacherous journey, searching for a place she can survive. Along the way she encounters Caleb, a rough, rebellious boy living in the wild. Caleb slowly wins her trust . . . and her heart. But when soldiers begin hunting them, Eve must choose between true love and her life.

This is the most tropey YA dystopian I've ever read. The MC Eve is completely oblivious and selfish, the plot had such good potential but execution wasn't great, though it had a fast pace, there are a lot of time skips. Romance was instalove which I usually don't mind but it did not work well for this anti male story. Ending left on a cliffhanger but it's a wonder I got through this book at all, so I definitely won't be continuing with the others.

I'll be the first to admit that white-girl-in-a-dystopian-america is NOT a new concept. But this story blew me away. Everything Eve has ever known suddenly comes crashing down around her and she has to find the courage and strength to bring down an entire regime.

This reminded me of a mix between Hunger Games, Divergent, & possibly even Romeo & Juliet. Eve is about to graduate at the top of her class, but the day before graduation.. She founds out what they really have planned for the graduates.
