The Sunlit Night | 
so-soI‘ll be in Lofoten next month and I was excited to read a book set there. Sadly I found this disappointing, probably me but I just didn‘t “get” it and struggled to understand quite what was going on or why. Really really sad as I so wanted to like it.
1. Tagged book. Much of the action takes place 90 miles north of the Arctic Circle.
2. Dr. Zhivago. SO. MUCH. SNOW.
3. Freeze Frame by the J. Giles Band. And yes, it‘s in my iTunes. 😬

pickQuirky little book that took me a while to get into, but once I did, it grew on me rapidly. An unforgettable 4.5 star read.

pickI quite enjoyed this quiet, meditative story of two young people who are searching for their way forward. I would encourage diving in without reading the blurb, as it‘s a bit spoilery. It‘s a small book, but the language encourages a slower read to savor the words and story. I‘m so glad I picked this for #LMPBC!

#TBRtemptation post 2! Lofoten is an archipelago of 6 tiny islands in the Norwegian Sea above the Arctic Circle "at the top of the world". Frances has fled there from claustrophobic NYC for an isolated artist colony; Yasha has arrived from Brooklyn to bury her father. No matter how far we travel, love finds us our place in the world. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook ?
pickMost "going away to find yourself," stories at least have a home for the protagonist(s) to return to, but not so much with this novel. It brings the theme of "who am I on my journey" to a bit of a head, sometimes melodramatically. But on the bright side (pun!) Dinnerstein takes her characters, and by extension us, to this alien (personal bias) world of a Norwegian archipelago where the sun never sets. It's different, and it's often intriguing.
