I love this series…and this book is my favorite to date. Hard to write a review without giving anything away, but I thought this was a great psychological thriller. A bit reminiscent of Silence of the Lambs…

I really liked this book because you learn a bit about Robert‘s personal life when he was younger. It made me cry, it was so…well, you have to read the book. Lucien Folger is truly a psychopath. I have a Bachelor‘s degree in Psychology and was working on my Masters degree in Criminal Psychology when I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and chronic migraines. With that background, that‘s why I love these books. #SeriesLove2023 @Andrew65 @TheSpineView

Andrew65 These are brilliant books. Lucien Folger is a great character, but as you say a real psychopath. Well done 👏👏👏 2y

How does he do it? This one is, yet again, so good! Had to stop reading it because if I continue I‘ll have to finish it, and I would lose my sleep. Intense, addictive, creepy, and so great!

EadieB I know! So violent but so good! 3y
Andrew65 Brilliant books! Always has me hooked. 3y

This was a far more personal foray into Robert Hunter‘s past. For the first time, he knows the killer, he knows his mind, and he knows what he is capable of. A brilliant story which ultimately gives the reader some vital insight into what made Detective Hunter the man he became. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

Not too great on the challenges this week.

EadieB @Andrew65 Still good totals for how busy you are since school started! 6y
Andrew65 @EadieB Bit by bit getting myself into a routine in order to get some reading in. Transition from holiday and getting reading in was tough this year. 6y
EadieB @Andrew65 Why do you think that was? 6y
Andrew65 @EadieB Not really sure, possibly because of the amount of work to do. Just struggle to stay still and read a book so for a week and a half mainly did audiobooks. Group and Buddy Reads have got me back into reading physical or ebooks. Possibly a bit hyped and full of Adrenalin! 😂 (edited) 6y
EadieB @Andrew65 I can certainly understand that! 6y

This was a great group read on LT with @Andrew65 but definitely very gritty and not for the feint of heart. A very hard investigation for Robert Hunter when the culprit was his college roommate and is now a serial killer. This roller coaster ride will leave you breathless. Lots of twists and cliffhangers keep you glued until the last page. Recommended for gritty thriller lovers! Can‘t wait to read the next installment!

Andrew65 A great series. Love the way the short chapters build tension and pace, as well as the cliff hangers at the end of chapters. 6y
EadieB @Andrew65 I agree! The short chapters make the book quick to read! 6y

Boy was this book well titled, the protagonist definitely had an evil mind! These are not for the faint of heart, you have to like gritties!! However that given this was another excellent book in the series, with the lead character Robert Hunter in battle with a heinous serial killer! Robert is a great lead character. I like the short chapters too. Only disappointment was that his sidekick Garcia didn‘t appear, this reader missed him! Next! 👍

EadieB @Andrew65 Loved this book and all the others he wrote! 6y
Andrew65 @EadieB It was an excellent t book but just missed Garcia. 6y
EadieB @Andrew65 Missed him too! I hope we find out what happened to him and what his new job is. 6y
Andrew65 @EadieB Yes, need the next book now! 6y
EadieB @Andrew65 I own the next one. I will have to take a peek! Just peeked by flipping pages and I saw Garcia‘s name but didn‘t read what it said! (edited) 6y

Starting book 6 in the excellent Robert Hunter Series by Chris Carter. Short chapters and good pace in this series, love the character of Robert Hunter. Doing this one for a Group Read on Librarything over the next five days. If you enjoy high quality detective series you do need to read these but they are not cozies.

EadieB @Andrew65 I always enjoy Carter‘s books even though they are quite gritty! 6y
Andrew65 @EadieB I have posted the schedule on the Group Pages. Day 1 is the first 22 Chapters. They are quite gritty but it doesn‘t hit you in the face. Or is that just me. 😂 Do love these. 6y
EadieB @Andrew65 Must be you because I know Lynda usually skips over the gritty descriptions. I read them because I need to know what‘s happening! 6y

Andrew65 @EadieB Me too! I can‘t skip over anything in a book or skim read. 6y
EadieB @Andrew65 I think you can get a little used to the grit if you read enough gritty books. It‘s like working in an emergency room, you just have to get used to it. I can read it but I cannot watch blood and guts on TV. (edited) 6y
Andrew65 @EadieB Likewise! 6y
