Book: Around the world in 80 days
Song: Voyage Voyage by Desireless

I had the song first but didn‘t want a non-fiction travel book. So I thought a reread of Verne after watching David Tennant‘s portrayal of Phileas Fogg. The show was fabulous if very different from the book. The song I first heard in a night club in France. I was 11! but that‘s a story for another day. #Titlesandtunes

Cinfhen I think I NEED to know the story….it sounds too good to miss 😁excellent pairing🙌🏻 2y
Cuilin @Cinfhen Picture 15 Irish and 15 French exchange students. Most were between the ages of 14 to 18. Being the youngest at 11, when they wanted to go to a club they would surround me so the bouncer wouldn‘t notice my age. I‘d get in and just be in awe of this grown up world. I still love 80‘s French Pop music. Entrance gave you tickets for booze but I didn‘t drink but definitely danced. 2y
Cinfhen That‘s great! Fun memories for sure 😉 2y

I stopped by B&N after work to take advantage of the buy 1 get 1 half off on hardcover sale. I've had my eye on both the Vitae & the Clothbound edition for a while now. Happy to have them in my collection! The Jules Verne has great sentimental value as it was the first adult book that I read. I read it during a Greyhound bus trip one summer to visit relatives. Well, I read most of it on the bus. At my earliest opportunity I snuck off somewhere to

vivastory finish it. The Steinbeck was prompted by a recent discussion on Litsy & I plan on reading it soon. There really should be an updated/expanded edition of Classic Penguin: Cover to Cover to include the Clothbound editions designed by Coralie Bickford-Smith & the recent Vitae editions. I'd buy it in a heartbeat. PS-For Virginia Woolf enthusiasts-I noticed that there is a Vitae edition of To the Lighthouse scheduled for pub next yr. (edited) 3y
merelybookish They are gorgeous! 3y
vivastory @merelybookish The only Vitae editions I have is this one & one for WE, but there are several others that are stunning. Including an edition of We Have Always Lived in the Castle. Which I have several other editions of 😅 3y

marleed Nice! I love owning the books I loved reading and the books that just to walk by them trigger some sort of internal photo album of memories. 3y

Pickpick

I enjoyed this book, but I found it very frustrating that Phileas Fogg didn't get out and explore all the amazing places he went. Especially right now, when I'm not sure when I'll be able to travel internationally again.
