It's been a year since septimus heap discovered his real family and true calling to be a wizard. As Apprentice to Extra Ordinary Wizard Marcia Overstrand, he is learning the fine arts of Conjurations, Charms, and other Magyk, while Jenna is adapting to life as the Princess and enjoying the freedom of the Castle. But there is something sinister at work. Marcia is constantly trailed by a menacing Darke Shadow, and Septimus's brother Simon seems bent on a revenge no one understands. Why is the Darke Magyk still lingering?Bringing fantasy to new heights, Angie Sage continues the journey of Septimus Heap with her trademark humor and all of the clever details readers have come to love.

Second installment in this series, just as captivating as the first. One year later, Septimus is the ExtraOrdinary Wizard's apprentice, but his big brother Simon is not happy about it.
Nicko is definitely my favorite Heap character and Silas is kind of a dummy 🤷🏼‍♀️

After Day 2 of the #20in4 readathon I have read just under 10 hours! I got my first dose of the covid vaccine on Friday and it made me very sleepy so I took a long afternoon nap and went to bed early. But yesterday I felt fine besides a sore arm so spent the morning working on planting flowers and most of the rest of the day reading. It was a gorgeous day to sit on the porch with a book ☺️

Andrew65 Great time and especially with the vaccination after-effect. 👏👏👏 3y

I finally had time last night to sit down and fill out my #bookspinbingo card. I'm very pleased with my #bookspin and #doublespin picks! The tagged has been sitting on my nightstand for months so now I have no excuse but to crack it open! 🤣
@TheAromaofBooks

TheAromaofBooks I'm in love with your layout!!! I really like the way you are tracking your books on the lefthand page. 4y
peanutnine @TheAromaofBooks thanks! It's super helpful, especially for Libby and hoopla loans to keep track of when things are due back 4y

Cute. Like this series. Especially Septimus and Jenna!

wordslinger42 Just finished reading the series not that long ago & it was so good! I was glad to find out there's another series after Septimus that follows him and some other characters! 7y

A continuing story of Septimus Heap and company. The story continues to build and the characters develop in a world that just keeps giving and giving. It‘s so easy to get lost in the pages of this series, and flyte does not disappoint.

So excited for my Litsy challenges this year! This is the first time I've ever done challenges like these (aside from Goodreads!). Right now I'm signed up for #LitsyAtoZ and the Passport challenge. Anybody else joining in on these? 😊📚📚📚

jfalkens I'm doing #LitsyAtoZ and #MountTBRChallenge 😊 7y
wordslinger42 @jfalkens I hadn't heard of the Mount TBR Challenge, but I just looked it up & that is seriously ambitious! What challenge level did you choose? 7y
jfalkens @wordslinger42 I'm just reading book that have been on my shelf longer than a month by the time I get to it 😊 7y

Airykah13 What‘s the passport challenge? 7y
wordslinger42 @jfalkens Sounds like a good plan! Good luck on the challenges 😊 7y
wordslinger42 @Airykah13 You pick how many countries you want to "travel" to and then the lady who is in charge of it sends you an itinerary of countries. Then you just choose books either set in each country or written by an author from the countries! I'm not sure what her Litst handle is, but here is her email and you can ask if sign-ups are still open ? kulikrachel@gmail.com 7y
Airykah13 Wow, how fun! 7y
DivaDiane @wordslinger42 Hi! The #MountTBRChallenge is meant to be only as challenging as you want it to be. Set a goal for the year, make a list (if you like), identify which books have been on your shelves unread the longest. Use the tag above, can join in anytime. Books must have been hanging around for at least a month (which would make library books eligible) but the longer the better. The idea is to “shop” your own shelves before buying new ones. 7y
wordslinger42 @DivaDiane Oh ok! Thanks so much for the info!! 😊 7y

Baseball analogies in fantasy? NOPE

I feel for the main characters, but I still want to punch all the adults, so I'm bailing on the series for my own calm. Which stinks because I really wanted to like this.

I'm about a quarter of the way through, and I want to punch all of the adults. I suspect this is actually a selling point for the target age group.

Different narrator than Magyk. They're both fine, but voice some characters very differently. In Marcia's case this is a very good thing - I'm not sure how much more of her I could have handled.
