Mysterious Benedict Society and the Perilous Journey (Turtleback School & Library)
Mysterious Benedict Society and the Perilous Journey (Turtleback School & Library) | Trenton Lee Stewart
The Mysterious Benedict Society is back with a new mission, significantly closer to home. After reuniting for a celebratory scavenger hunt, Reynie, Kate, Sticky, and Constance are forced to go on an unexpected search--a search to find Mr. Benedict. It seems that while he was preparing the kids' adventure, he stepped right into a trap orchestrated by his evil twin Mr. Curtain. With only one week to find a captured Mr. Benedict, the gifted foursome faces their greatest challenge of all--a challenge that will reinforce the reasons they were brought together in the first place and will require them to fight for the very namesake that united them.

Whilst I do enjoy the writing, this series drags a little and it is not often Beatrix‘s book of choice at bedtime (admittedly for the first half of the year it was competing with her dad reading Harry Potter). Reminds me a great deal of Lemony Snicket.
I enjoy the characters and the TV series but the books are just a bit long for reading at bedtime once or twice a week. Tried to find the third instalment on audible but no luck.

I thought at times that the story was slow. I did think that Mr. Benedict‘s clues were pretty clever. Overall I did enjoy this book even though it‘s meant for middle school kids.

Time: 3h10m

It‘s been a few years since I read the first book, but this was still a fun adventure with the Benedict Society gang.

Another fascinating installment to a great series. I enjoyed the puzzled involved to solve the story, I enjoyed the growth of the characters and the new conflict that was presented to them. Although I would consider this an easy read, it is well written and entertaining. Once the action picked up, I was hooked to find out what would happen in the end. #recentlyread #nospoilers #youngadult ❤️

The plot is engaging and intense. The characters are well developed. The language is written up to children yet still keeps them interested.
