Simply Tuesday
Simply Tuesday: Small-Moment Living in a Fast-Moving World | Emily P. Freeman
7 posts | 13 read | 8 to read
Our obsession with bigger and faster is spinning us out of control. We move through the week breathless and bustling, just trying to keep up while longing to slow down. But real life happens in the small moments, the kind we find on Tuesday, the most ordinary day of the week. Tuesday carries moments we want to hold onto--as well as ones we'd rather leave behind. It holds secrets we can't see in a hurry--secrets not just for our schedules but for our souls. It offers us a simple bench on which to sit, observe, and share our stories. For those being pulled under by the strong current of expectation, comparison, and hurry, relief is found more in our small moments than in our fast movements. In Simply Tuesday, Emily P. Freeman helps readers stop dreading small beginnings and embrace today's work find contentment in the now--even when the now is frustrating or discouraging replace competition with compassion learn to breathe in a breathless worldJesus lived small moments well, slow moments fully, and all moments free. He lives with us still, on all our ordinary days, creating and redeeming the world both in us and through us, one small moment at a time. It's time to take back Tuesday, to release our obsession with building a life, and believe in the life Christ is building in us--every day.

If I‘m physically reading a book, I like to have some lo-fi music playing on YouTube in the background to help me concentrate on the book I‘m reading. I don‘t think I would be able to concentrate on any other kind of music. I like talking about my favorite artists and new discoveries. Music is one of my favorite topics to talk about besides books so this is perfect for me. I enjoy participating in this.

Clwojick What app do you use for all your audios? You always seem to have the best selection. Even most paid apps I‘ve found have had a maximum monthly I can listen to, and my library‘s selection doesn‘t seem to be as current as a lot of your picks. 5y
hes7 @Clwojick I use a lot—mostly through libraries. I have library cards for 5-6 libraries in my state, which give me access to a lot of titles through Libby, Hoopla, RB Digital, and Axis360. I also use Audible (+ Audible Escape and Kindle Unlimited), Libro.fm, Scribd, and Chirp. 😅 5y

Clwojick Holy man! Hahahah. I checked out Chirp. The only app my library uses atm is CloudLibrary. 5y
BarbaraTheBibliophage That is a TON of audio options. I'm thinking about dropping my Audible for now and using Libro.fm to support my indie bookstores. 5y

A) Actually, no. I have books everywhere in the house and some in my car but typically when I‘m out and about the books stay at home.

B) I frequent the library! I‘m like a kid in a candy store when I‘m there! Oops 😬

C) On occasion. They‘re useful and I definitely own a few :)

SilversReviews Thanks for playing. I love to browse the aisles. 6y
akckitty @SilversReviews of course! This one was fun for me. Browsing the aisles is probably the funnest part to the library experience! :) 6y
SilversReviews @Akckitty It is tons of fun....love it. I actually did that the other day. 😊 6y

"Tuesday reminds me to accept the beauty of smallness, hiddenness, and the secret work of Christ in the deepest part of who I am. I want to let him come out of me in any way he wants, no matter how it may seem to me -- whether that be in one big way or in a million little ways."
