I enjoyed about half of this book. I thought it was going to be a deep dive into the different beliefs of paganism but it was really more of an us versus them with the more mainstream religions like Christianity & Judaism. There were also a bunch of discussion questions & meditations throughout the book. Some of those were thought provoking but others seemed rather condescending & most of the meditations were just plain weird.

Clare-Dragonfly Glad I didn‘t read it. I know the whole “here‘s how we are so different from Christianity” works and is helpful for a lot of new pagans, but I get tired of it! 3y

As helpful and thought-provoking as science and mysticism are, they are only aids. They can never substitute for your experience.

What might happen to the culture if the universe were no longer viewed as a big machine, but the unfolding of consciousness or intelligence into physical expression? What might happen to medicine and biology? What might happen to religions and social structures if the society comes to believe that the will and intention of the parts create the whole? What becomes of God? What becomes of you in this interconnected living flux?

we are not loving it too much, but the other parts too little.

One problem with the “us and them“ worldview is that it frequently condemns the behavior of outsiders and glorifies that of insiders, even when the behavior is exactly the same.

Good Morning Littens. I am coming to you today to see what we can do for our next book since we have about 2 weeks left of our current book. Let us know what we should read next! Should we do a wiccan one?

MoonWitch94 @AkashaVampie I missed this. Is the buddy study still a thing? Is it taking a pause? I‘d love to do this. 2y

4.5/5⭐ A thought-provoking exploration of spiritual beliefs, ethics, world views, etc. Includes fantastic reflective questions and activities for readers regardless of their religion or lack of. I appreciated the way the authors balanced the necessity of summarizing with the inclusion of other possibilities/exceptions. #bookspinbingo #PaganBuddyStudy

If u are interested, just let me know. I am thinking maybe using Discord to chat about the books and we can also post here. I just need to make a Server on there. List of books in comments.

With Rosh Hashanah and Mabon (fall equinox) back-to-back this year, I'm enjoying planning out our joint holiday decor and feast! 😃 I thought a pumpkin spice latte was apropos for the task at hand. 🌽🍂🍁🌾🍎

Cinfhen That's cool 🌞I'm not familiar with Mabon....what rituals/ customs do you have?!? 7y
julesG I have neglected my pagan side during the last years. I think I'm going to throw together a Mabon altar this year. @Cinfhen, for me, Mabon is a sort of thanksgiving for the food the earth/mother nature has provided this summer. 7y
alisiakae @Cinfhen I only celebrate loosely, because I am agnostic more than anything else, but I value recognizing/honoring the flow of the seasons. Mabon is a time of harvest, reflection, and transition. I've always thought it ties well with the High Holidays and Sukkot. I put together a table (others would call it an altar) that has features of both Holidays. (edited) 7y

Cinfhen I'd love to see your photos 😍it sounds a lot like Sukkot (edited) 7y
Cinfhen I love that @julesG would love to see how you celebrate/ mark the change of harvest 💕💕 7y
alisiakae @julesG me too! Most people are confused by me, lol, because we keep a Jewish home (hubby is Jewish, and we are raising our daughter Jewish), I'm generally agnostic, but there are a lot of pagan ideas that I can really relate to, and I incorporate that into my life as well. Most people just guess that I'm Jewish and I typically leave it at that, because it's easier than explaining everything else. 😆 @Cinfhen (edited) 7y
alisiakae @Cinfhen It is (maybe why I love sukkot so much)! So, my table/altar this year will have red/orange table coverings, a bowl of apples with a small jar of honey, acorns, red candles, a kiddush cup, quartz and amber stones, and a cornucopia with a few small winter squash or dried corn if I can get them (it's still a little early to find them here). (edited) 7y
Cinfhen Sounds fantastic 7y
