But more than that it describes how neatly institutionalized racism fits into a larger scheme of capitalistic exploitation at the very center of American life. Written in the wake of Ferguson it is even more relevant today.
pickThanks to #25infive I felt motivated enough to set aside some time to finish this book. I only read about 5 hours over the last five days, but that‘s 5 hours more than I‘ve read in a long time. Taylor doesn‘t hold back in her critique of Obama and capitalistic ideology. Overall, this was a great read.
Today is the first time in recent memory that I won't be watching the Super Bowl. I love football. I'm a die-hard Patriots fan. Am. Was. I don't know. I'm still figuring that out. Their connections to Trump really turned me off to the point of feeling uncomfortable calling myself a fan. This season I've been boycotting the NFL in support of Colin Kaepernick, and I'll continue that today. ✊🏻✊🏼✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿Looks like another Sunday of reading for me!
Starting this tonight! I've had this on my list since it came out and have heard nothing but great things about it. Taylor's work on police brutality and racial and class inequality is really important. Hoping to learn a lot. ✊🏾

Read, read, read some more! Just finished the introduction and this is fantastic so far.
Look at this brand new subscription box I found! They haven't shipped their 1st box yet but will soon. It's 2-3 books by black authors, fic/nonfic. We love our book mail so I figured I'm not the only one interested. 😉
I don't subscribe to book boxes bc they often rely heavily on popular books, often less diverse so I likely have them already. But this looks great! Great way to get more nonfic & diverse books in your stacks. ✊🏾📚

pickCritical read, especially to learn about more modern eras of history. I especially enjoyed how Taylor makes connections across different eras of history and the writing is very readable.
