Mehso-so

This wasn't terrible, but wasn't a favorite either. I had both book and CD and to be honest, the author's preface on CD was more exciting to me than much of the story. And I did not like the ending at all. I'd say it is a strong ***

Samplergal I liked this one , but it isn‘t her best either. I was drawn to the name ( I collect sea glass) and wasn‘t disappointed. Not everything can be a 5🌟 7y
Loric I'm a lover of sea glass myself too! Did you read the other two books set in this same house (Fortune's Rock and The Pilot's Wife) (edited) 7y

Today's author spotlight: Anita Shreve! The 70-year-old is a Massachusetts native. She spent three years in Nairobi, Kenya, as a journalist. She began writing as a high school teacher. One of her first stories, "Past the Island, Drifting," won the O. Henry Prize in 1976. Her book "The Pilot's Wife" was an Orpah pick. "The Weight of Water", "Resistance", and "TPW" have been adapted to film. #AuthorPotpourri #TheMoreYouKnow

Pickpick

I really enjoyed this book set at the start of the Great Depression. I thought it was depressingly relevant to many conflicts we see going on in the world today. One complaint: this is a multiple point of view book written entirely in the third person. It seems to me that this book would've benefitted from a first person narration. All of the characters felt like they were kept at arm's length to me.
