Risen: The Novelization of the Major Motion Picture | Angela Hunt
8 posts | 3 read | 3 to read
A Powerful Novelization from Bestselling Author Angela Hunt Epic in scope, yet deeply personal, this novelization offers a unique perspective on the story of the resurrection. Roman Tribune Clavius is assigned by Pilate to keep the radical followers of the recently executed Yeshua from stealing the body and inciting revolution. When the body goes missing despite his precautions, Clavius must hunt it down. His investigation leads him from the halls of Herod Antipas to the Garden of Gethsemane and brings him in touch with believer and doubter alike. But as the body still remains missing, Clavius commits to a quest for the truth--and answers that will not only shake his life but echo throughout all of history.

This book was pretty interesting. While the writing wasn‘t spectacular, it was nice to learn more about Roman and Jewish cultures and to see Christ‘s crucifixion and resurrection from a different perspective. Although this story is not 100% biblically accurate, It was still a pretty good read. I‘d give it 3 1/2⭐️s (It‘s a pick for me because I could see myself reading it again).

KathyWheeler I liked the movie but haven‘t read the book. 6y
Jsara5761 I haven‘t seen the movie, but based on the author‘s note there are some additions to the story that you may enjoy! 😊 6y

So far this book has been a quick read! There are some thought provoking passages and it‘s been interesting learning more about Roman and Jewish customs. However I‘m still so-so on the writing and the book overall. But I‘ll wait to pass judgment until the end. 📖

Thought this would be a nice read for the week before Easter. But since this was a movie, I‘m not expecting any mind blowing writing, etc. I didn‘t watch the movie either, so fingers crossed that I enjoy it. 🤞🏻😂

#NeverGiveUp - After many months of trial, pain, and suffering, I am blessed to be back with the Litsy Community! My health may have taken a down turn, but in Christ, I rise in faith and hope. For when all else was hard to endure, a book was my solace to find the peace (and place) not yet provided to me.

Libby1 I hope you're feeling better. ❤️ 7y

I loved these books! Risen was a great story about the Resurrection, I love the change Clavius had towards the end of the book. Now to go out and get the movie to watch!😄 Before I fall was interesting, I liked how each day was sort of different even though it was the same day over and over again. I loved how Sam grew to be a better person as she went through each day! Cant wait for the movie to come out💋👀

I am just about finished with Risen and have really enjoyed it. The chapters go back and forth between the point of view of Clavius and Rachel, the two main characters. If you are looking for an entertaining religious type read please try this one.
