More mysteries keep piling up as the siblings dive into uncharted waters, with new volatile allies and unseen enemies. The anticipation mounts each book closer to The End!

My goal for the year was 60, so I‘m pretty happy to have gone over! I‘m sure having 3 months off of work for hip surgery helped. 😂 Looking forward to reading challenges (new and old), book clubs, and buddy reads in 2023! Happy New Year, Littens!! 🎉 #readharder2022

Gonna finally attempt to finish this book today after a month and a half of my reading brain taking a vacation and not telling my library-borrowing brain to pause the book checkouts 😂 (there was a lot, folks)

I remembered literally none of this as I reread it. Not a surprise, it felt like filler compared to some of the other books - by this point in a 13 book series, I'd expect things to be moving forward more. Also, Daniel Handler is still a gross human.

Suitably dark and suspenseful and weird. I was very pleased the creepy underwater environment kept my attention. I hope this means the series will finish strong.

One of my absolute fave series of all time. Not sure how the Netflix version is holding up tho. First few episodes were snooze-inducing for me and my daughter. 😭

TracyReadsBooks We watched this as a family and everyone loved it—the first couple of episodes got my son so hooked he raced through all the books. (It was the first time he ever got really excited about a book.) All that being said, the show has a definite aesthetic which may not be for everyone. Sorry to hear you aren‘t enjoying it. 5y
GatheringBooks @TracyReadsBooks I looooved the books. but not sure how i feel yet about the netflix series. to be fair, i think we only watched halfway thru episode 1. do you know how many seasons there are now? 5y
TracyReadsBooks Three seasons in total—last one was released this past January (in the US). Our kids definitely enjoyed watching the Baudelaires wriggle out of trouble and outsmart the adults time and time again! 5y

Season 3 is here! Who else is loving this series? I really don‘t want it to end, they did such an amazing job with this adaptation.

BookaholicNatty I will have to check this out when I get thru Outlander!!! I just noticed that Netflix has a lot of gooooood series out!!! 6y

So educational! 🌊 🌧 💦

CoffeeNBooks One of the things I really liked about this series is that the books often defined the vocabulary words it introduced. Great for kids to learn and understand new words! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this entire series. 6y
hgrimes @CoffeeNBooks Yes, one of those series I wish existed when I was a kid! 6y
CoffeeNBooks When I taught middle school, I had a copy of the series in my classroom and my students really liked them. I teach high school now, and even though the books are great, I can't get my students to read them. 6y

One of the few days where I‘m home from work while it‘s still light out, it‘s my husband‘s turn to cook, it‘s nice out, AND my tiny apartment porch isn‘t being taken over by laundry hung out to dry. Porch reading time!

I thought “Equal Rites” I ordered for #OokBookClub would come by now, but it hasn‘t and I don‘t want to commit to anything major until it does. A perfect opportunity to start book 11 of Unfortunate Events, right? I used to own books 1-11 until I moved cross-country, but I hung onto this one because it‘s signed! And I went YEARS not realizing I had a signed copy too...That‘s what happens sometimes when you neglect to read the books on your shelf!

I‘m testing out the audiobook this time as I‘ve struggled to stay focused on these books. Thus far I‘m not a fan of the narrator‘s voices for the kids, but it‘s going better than actually reading them still.

The good part is the Baudelaires are finally starting to figure things out when it comes to VFD. The bad part is this book was pretty annoying, especially the dialogues with the captain we're not exactly nice to read, and it could have been quite a bit shorter. Let's hope the next installment will be a little more action-packed!

I loved Fiona and the eccentricity of Captain Widdershins. I loved the twists and the betrayals and the reveal at the end. There is always a theme of loyalty to family and morality vs corruption, but the two intertwined in this book in such a poignant way. What lines are you willing to cross for family? When does someone become corrupt? And over and over again, the distinction that we are not corrupt OR moral, but a combination of the two.

The children's section of my beautiful local library. The duck-like things sitting on the window sill can be brought down and used as rocking seats for the children.

Today my 6 year-old said he loved this library because "it was an adventure with lots of new lands to explore." You got it, kid.
