More adult level than I thought. Mowgli is like a Tarzan with the wolves and Kaa is a friend. Some stories are in a different place completely with different characters. Mostly good reading. Not like Disney at all.

I am starting these stories by Kipling which I have put off reading for years !
I had long ago forgotten that the two Jungle Books were collections of short stories, some of which have nothing to do with Mowgli and friends. As a child, the Disney cartoon Jungle Book was my favourite film, and it was interesting to see what the film had taken from the books and what they had left out, but I think if I had come across the stories now for the first time I probably wouldn't have read very far. Just meh all the way.

1) Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling🐵🐆
2) one cat called Marmalade🐱
3) I can't pick just one... penguin, sloth, coatimundi, tiger and peregrine falcon are my top 5 🐅🐧🦅
4) a Falcon, I'd be able to fly and I'd feel like a badass 🦅
Just picked up this book today! I'll probably ruin my childhood vision of The Jungle Book but that's what growing up is all about, right? #TheJungleBook
Well, I loved some of the stories (this is a book of short stories-I never knew that) but others bored me to sleep. The stories I loved were all the Mowgli stories as well as Rikki Tikki Tavi and The White Seal get five stars but the others between 2 & 3 so it‘s very hard to rate it as a whole...
A little on the nose for #welcometothejungle, I guess 😜. Managed to get a picture with Ninja, who I imagine wants to return to the jungle.

#FallIntoBooks #day2 #BookRainbow I think my Word Cloud Classics make a pretty book rainbow 🌈 I love that they come in such bright colours, plus not only the embossed words on the cover but the cute embossed symbol on the spine that matches the story. I can't wait to add more to my collection!
“The reason the beasts live among themselves is that Man is the weakest and most defenseless of all living things,” ― Rudyard Kipling, The Jungle Book
I tried, but other than the stories I was already familiar with, I did not like this. How disappointing because I had high hopes for it. #welcometothejungle
Since I already owned this as an audiobook my #welcometothejungle readalong is slightly different. I'm not very far into this but I'm already hooked. The audiobook narrator is really good & he makes the text sounds much more lyrical than I think it would seem to me if I read a hard copy or Serial Reader format.
I haven't been able to make it to the jungle to get a photo of my current reading, but here is a photo with the vicious couch panther. #kimmiecatjreads #thejunglebook #couchpanther #rudyardkipling #catsoflitsy
This one's the last one for this year. I really loved reliving my childhood memories through books during #SeasonsReadings2016😍
Watching the newest movie of this #ClassicIHaventRead with the hubby tonight! Good fun! #SeasonsReadings2016

A little late in posting this but I was excited to complete the 24 in 48 readathon with 8 books. :) #readathon #24in48 #shelflove #classics
I just started reading the Jungle Books!! I have been wanting to read these for years but was recently inspired by the new live action Jungle Book movie to finally read them. It is a timeless story, one that I have loved ever since I saw Disney's animated version when I was 3. Read and Enjoy!!!!!!!!
Loved this children's classic!!! Read this just in time for the movie!!
