This was pretty typical of a short story collection in that the styles were all over the map. A few really spoke to me, and a few I thought about skipping over. I read this slowly, and it had to go back to the library before I got to the last few stories, so maybe I‘ll pick it up again someday and finish it properly… But I loved reading something that showed the real diversity which exists under the disability umbrella.

Took me forever to get through this one now that the school year started, but it was well worth savoring. The stories in this span multiple genres- realistic fiction, fantasy, some sci-fi, and lots of magical realism. It was also one of the most diverse books I‘ve read. Not only does it showcase a number of disabilities, but there‘s also a lot of LBGTQ and minority representation.

MandaMT Not every condition is explicitly explained. I had to infer a lot or even look things up sometimes. I didn‘t mind though. It was a good reminder that not everything has to be written “for me” (an able bodied, neurotypical, straight cis white lady). 5y

This book has not one, but TWO short stories that speak to my theater kid soul.

To every disabled reader, dreamer, storyteller— we can be heroes. This one's for us. — Unbroken dedication. I did cry.

Jumping onto #disabilityreads because it‘s such an underrepresented community, not to mention frequently poorly portrayed by non-disabled writers. Disabled teens are an especially vulnerable population and this collection looks to be an intersectional dream. 😍

A collection of #shortstories by disabled authors about disabled teens. They speak to a variety of disabilities & diagnoses, including physical & mental conditions, as well as giving disabled teens a place and voice in many genres. Best of all, they cover how treatments, diagnoses, & societies vary in different cultures & times. I wanted more characterization and depth than stories can deliver, but I have a new list of authors now! #YA #ownvoices

glitterkitty459 @BooksAndTea97 it was on my tbr for forever too! I wasn't blown away by it, but I think it's worth a read. Pretty short too. I've heard good things about the movie- I think it's on Netflix? I'll probably get around to watching it soon 😊 6y
