Home to a place she thought shed left forever, home of her heart and memories, but not her future. Ten years ago, Caroline launched a career in the glamorous fashion world of Manhattan. But her success in New York imploded on a wave of scandal and tragedy, forcing her to flee to the only safe place she knows. And in the backseat of Carolines car are two children who were orphaned in a single chilling momentfive-year-old Addie and six-year-old Flick. Caroline returns to her favorite place: the sewing shop owned by Mrs. Lindy Bloom, the woman who inspired her and taught her to sew. Thus begins the Oysterville Sewing Circlewhere women can join forces to support each other through the troubles they keep hidden. Yet just as Caroline regains her creativity and fighting spirit, and the children begin to heal from their loss, an unexpected challenge tests her courage and her heart. HI! My 83-year-old Mom recently moved into a senior's home and has found reading to be her main activity to keep her interested in life! PLEASE help with any suggestions for books! She loved Shell Seekers as her favorite book of all time and is now nearly finished with Oysterville Sewing Circle.

What would you suggest next?

Blessings and Deep Gratitude!
Colin

Lauram The House at Riverton (or any of Kate Morton‘s books) 2y
Amiable Has she read this one: 2y
Traci1 Aww, I loved Shell Seekers. And all of Rosamunde Pilcher's other books. I wish she'd written more. If she is at all interested in mysteries, I can't recommend The Thursday Murder Club books enough. They are sweet, funny, and totally charming, about a group of pensioners who live in a retirement community who solve murders. There are 3 so far, and each one is delightful. 2y
Traci1 She might enjoy Maeve Binchy books. I particularly enjoyed Tara Road and Circle of Friends. 2y
Penny_LiteraryHoarders Maybe she‘d like The Cazelet Chronicles by Elizabeth Jane Howard. All are big thick books to enjoy! 2y

I really enjoyed this book. It has such a strong women centric basis with strong women who have unique and important roles throughout the book. I loved the setting and the storyline and it really kept my interest. This book definitely surprised me at the depth and heart that was shown through the story.

I inhaled this story!! Susan Wiggs is a favorite of mine. This book has women supporting women and they are making big, life-changing decisions-I love both of these things in stories 🙌🏻

There was potential for heaviness with these themes, but I didn‘t feel any. The characters are so well done. Caroline is a fabulous female lead, and Addie and Flick are such sweet kids.

Thanks a ton for sending the review copy my way, @WilliamMorrowBooks!!

Caroline, a young and gifted fashion designer, finds herself without a career and with a dear friend's children. She moves back home and rebuilds her life, inspired to help other women affected by domestic abuse. Along the way, she rediscovers her love for home and an old friendship waiting to be rekindled. I couldn't read it fast enough. (Took the book back to the library, so I thought I'd show off a little of my design skills.)

SassyBookworm Love the pumpkin hat!!! 🎃 5y
lahousewyfe @SassyBookworm Thanks! It's my own pattern. I'm making them for a few children of Craftsmen in the woodshop where I work. 5y

Finished soup: Emerald Corn Chowder with Roasted Tomatillos & Poblano adapted from a Rick Bayless recipe. I added hominy & cauliflower rice for bulk.😉Easy as the tomatillo salsa does much of the flavor work as does the poblano. Tangy with the right amount of heat at the end, it‘s a good summer vegan chowder. I topped it with diced avocado, toasted pepitas & cilantro. Here with a current read for review later in the week. Link to the recipe is👇🏻

ferskner I adore Rick Bayless so I'm sure this is heaven. 5y
