I‘m horribly disappointed that we had a snap three day lockdown... on the literal of Swancon. So no seeing Guest of Honour Claire Coleman there. Nonetheless: this book is a tour de force, so long as you can handle the grimness and body horror. If you were wondering “where are all the Aboriginal people in military SF?”: they‘re here.

Another thought provoking, clever, fantastic story!
Speculative fiction that blurs the lines between race and gender. I love the way Coleman tells the story of Australia‘s colonisation from the past with a modern story set in the future.
I‘m so excited to see what she does next! 👏🏻

Coleman is ingenious. Spec fiction is not one of my favourite genres, but f^~! me, this was good.
Whilst it was fast-paced from the get-go I had to re-read the first third & write down the characters. It‘s not that there are a lot, but Coleman cleverly reveals limited info making them feel somewhat nebulous at first.
But PLEASE READ ON, because it will be worth it.
I cannot wait to see what this brilliant writer comes up with next. #ozfiction

Hooked_on_books I can‘t wait to get my hands on this! I‘m not sure when it comes out in the US. I thought Terra Nullius was genius—lulling you into thinking one thing then tearing back the curtain of what‘s really happening. Sounds like this one might do a similar thing. 5y

This dark science fiction story of a utopian colony collapsing on itself is a fascinating read that gave me a lot to think about. Did you guys know that the author of the amazing Terra Nullius, @Clairegcoleman is right here with us on Litsy?!? 😲 Not only that, she has another book (tagged) coming out in Australia in September! I hope we‘ll get to see it stateside sooner than later. I know I can‘t wait to get my hands on it.
