A hookup turned deadly.Hunted from the FBI. Targeted by a murderous cult. Accused of cyber-terrorism.Irritated texts from his friends. Eye contact with a nice-looking guy on the train. Aidan Jamison has a lot to deal with, and he's not quite sure which comes first. Finding himself alone in a posh New York City hotel room for the night, Aidan does what any red-blooded seventeen-year-old would do---tries to hook up with someone new. But that lapse in judgement leads him to a room with a dead guy and a mysterious flash drive...two things that spark an epic case of mistaken identity that puts Aidan on the run from everyone---the authorities, his friends, his family, and especially a cyber-terrorist group who will stop at nothing to find him. He soon realizes the only way to stop the chase is to deliver the object everyone wants, before he gets caught or killed. But for Aidan, the hardest part is knowing who he can trust not to betray him---including himself.

I was captured and swallowed whole by this book from page one! I could not escape the genuinely unique, talented, beautiful, charming, full of mystery and suspense, adventure and humor, angst and heartbreak, grief and real life epicness that this story was!! I feel like I was swept up in a tornado 🌪️ and I loved every second of it. 💯✌🏻💜

I have a book coming in this week that I preordered a few months back and am extremely excited for (You'd Be Home Now by Kathleen Glasgow) but ever since I finished Please Do Not Ask For Mercy this book was "screaming" to be read! Does anyone else look through their shelves and hear little book voices calling "read me next read me next!" or is it just me? ?????

Meh.

The premise sounded interesting - a LGBTQ+ teen on the run from the FBI while also being targeted by a cult. But there were a lot of moving plots (maybe too many?) and at times I found myself rolling my eyes.

Moonprismpower I like your photo tho. Even if the book was lame 🙂 5y

I legitimately don‘t know how I feel about this book... it was kind of all over the place and utterly chaotic. The overall premise sounded like it could be really good, but it just fell flat for me. I really wish it had lived up to expectations, and definitely understand now why I‘ve seen such mixed reviews. 2⭐️

LibrarianRyan I loved his last book. I have this but haven‘t read it yet. 5y
vkois88 @LibrarianRyan I‘m wondering if I‘m just not in the right head space to really appreciate it for what it is... I‘ll probably try it again at some point, but I had to get it back to the library. 5y
JoScho I struggled with this one too. I had no desire to finish it. I loved Scream All Night but this one just didn‘t do it for me. 5y
vkois88 @JoScho I‘m so glad I‘m not the only one!! I never read the other book, I just saw this one and thought I‘d be more into it. Ugh. 5y

It seems like I might find my way back into the YA genre! At least the newly published books are unlike the ones I've read years ago.

Actually, I would have needed an hero like Aidan when I was a teen. A character who has so many reasons to give but doesn't. A character who could easily walk the easy path but doesn't. There weren't such characters in my time, so I'm happy for the new generation who does.

This was a pretty interesting read which is a lot more political than I thought it would be and it really does make you think how we are going to handle a world so hell bent on rolling back rights for LGBTQ+ people. The main character wasn't my all time favourite but he was bareable.

I made it to about chapter 8 and gave up 🤷🏻‍♀️. The writing and story were just 😬👎🏻. The Mc and his friends are suppose to be teenagers but yet they sound like adults to me. They don‘t act like any teen in the real world would. The sentence “homosexuality is a disease and aids is the cure” The Main character being underaged is having sex with grown men and I just..no no. I was really hoping I would enjoy this one, but sadly it‘s a no from me

This book was a real roller coaster ride! Both emotional and action-packed, it was a fun time. Looking forward to reading more of Derek's stuff in the future.

Happiest of book birthdays to this YA thriller and Hitchcock-style caper complete with a case of mistaken identity set in NYC, dark comedy and has emotional highs and lows.
An awesome fast-paced summer read!

This is the same author as Scream All Night which was one of my favorite books of 2018. And it was completely unexpected and not what I thought it would be. I hope I get the same thing from this book. However, I wish they would have hired the artist from SAN to do this cover. This cover matches the title, but SAN was just out of the ball park perfect.

I'm a big fan of Scream All Night so I had high hopes for Swipe Right for Murder and it surely did not disappoint. It's a wild ride full of mystery, thrills, self discovery, and action with a dash of romance and horror. Milman's writing style and plot pacing are phenomenal. It's very rare for a book to suck me in to the point that I forget everything else, as if the story is real. Everyone should read this bent, genre mashup. @kamoorephoto #ya

JoScho I loved Scream All Night. I can‘t wait to read this one. 6y

I‘m dying to start this!
The second book from Derek Milman, author of #ScreamAllNight which came out last year. I‘m a massive fan of this guy‘s writing, and since this one is set to be totally different from his debut, I‘m especially intrigued.
A ‘Hitchcock-esque‘ thriller (recall ‘Dial M for Murder?), this has a LGBTQ MC and cyber-terrorism at the core.
Out 8/19 @LittleBrownBooks /Jimmy Patterson Books!

*Considering this for my YA #LMPBC group.

kamoorephoto @gibblr @Canndor @IheartYA Because I have extra copies (arcs) of both, it‘s this one or 6y
gibblr I think I‘m leaning toward The Haunted, but I will honestly read whichever one y‘all choose!! 6y
kamoorephoto @Canndor @IheartYA So, the Vega book then? @gibblr has her vote in... 6y

IheartYA The Vega book is good. But I wouldn't mind taking the extra copy of this book off your hands. 😂 6y
kamoorephoto @iheartyalit I may just send it to you then, my lovely. I will gladly help Derek promo his new book since I think he‘s awesome. You just promise me to put the review up in all the right places (unless you hate it)! We will go for The Haunted for our group read then. 6y
Canndor The Haunted is my vote too 6y
