It‘s here! #LMPBC
The magic of Burleigh House is failing, and so is the county surrounding it. Violet Sterling, last of her family, is the only one with the power to save her House. But what will it cost her?
This was a fascinating story! I loved the magic system, & the descriptive use of language was gorgeous. Violet was a sympathetic POV. I would have liked more of our 2ndary characters, & the pacing was off for me, too slow & then rushed. 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑
This one is my pick for a fantasy group for #LMPBC. I overall did enjoy it but felt like it was trying to pack a lot into a standalone, leaving me a little vague on some details when I would have liked more. Sometimes a series feels like it's stretching, and sometimes a standalone feels like it's cramming, and this was a case of the latter for me. Still, intriguing magic, a likeable MC, and an interesting story kept me reading. ⬇️
• still trying to read Mash Up, Five Dark Fates, and Metamorphosis
• A Treason of Thorns
• no, I‘m very good at forgetting about them and letting them die 😬

Weymouth's writing is so luxurious and PERFECT for Gothic fantasies and histories. Violet's whole story just continuously crushed me. She has a wonderful heart but has been put in a terrible position. I felt everything she did and wanted to fight most of the other characters in her honor. The weird situation of Burleigh's unbinding was a bit confusing to me at times but it all wrapped together beautifully at the end. Adored the multiple timelines
Look, I don't know what magic or prayers or rituals Laura Weymouth has done but the cover gods received and enjoyed it. My preorder of A Treason showed up and I gotta read it now so putting down Tearling for the day.
Today‘s #salonread is one of my most anticipated books of 2019. I absolutely LOVED The Light Between Worlds last year (ok, real talk, that book DESTROYED me—beautifully), so I‘m really looking forward to seeing what Laura E. Weymouth comes up with next!
