This is book 3a for #BookSpinBonanza, being the sequel to book 3 haha Written by Charles Tritten, who translated many of Spyri's books, this sequel to the classic was published almost six decades after the original. While a pleasant story, it somehow lacked the charm and timelessness of Heidi. Part of the problem was that the book felt a bit unfocused - Heidi goes to school, but we hear very little of her time there. A lot of the book is ⬇️
Still, overall this was a perfectly enjoyable read that definitely carries on the spirit of Spyri's original story. Tritten wrote two more sequels (Heidi's Children and Grandmere Heidi, of which I've only been able to find the former) so I am reading Heidi's Children before moving on to Bonanza Book 4! 5y
