Another country for #ReadingTheAmericas2023

These were interesting stories from women in #Chile and some that fell a little flat. The connecting thread wasn‘t fleshed out well, and the final story was a bit diluted because it was told secondhand.

I listened to this book over the course of a few days, usually listening to one woman‘s story and then taking a break before listening to the next. I found some stories more interesting than others, but I don‘t know that any of them will really stay with me. I liked that it shared experiences from a variety of women in Chile.

In this book I visited the country of Chili. This story is told by 10 different women. It was an interesting read as each story was told by each individual woman as they experienced life. Add the cultural differences and it‘s a truly absorbing read. #travelthroughbooks #mayreading #chili

This book covers ten women‘s lives in Chile. None of the stories particularly stuck with me. I guess I don‘t understand the culture. Still, I am glad that I read it.

Starting this since it‘s too dark in my room to read a regular book, and I can‘t find my book light. Thank goodness for my phone!

I‘m loving all the literary references in this! Allende is to be expected, given her father‘s political situation, but it also references Margaret Atwood and others.

1. At work for 2 1/2 more hours;
2. Tagged, and American Fire;
3. Mood, what I have on hand, and “obligations” like book club or buddy reads.
#TuesdayTidbits @SilversReviews

SilversReviews The obligations are what I use too, but that is ok. At least I don‘t have to find something. 😊 Thanks for playing. 6y
Lcsmcat @SilversReviews I didn‘t like the word, because it can have negative connotations and I don‘t feel negative about it. It‘s just another way to choose a book. 😀 6y
SilversReviews @Lcsmcat I don‘t feel negative about it either. 😊 It is a BIG help. 😊 6y

This is really a set of short stories about ten women in Chile. I liked how they were connected, yet gave insight into a wide range of experiences the women had. I loved learning about Chile and seeing life from so many women‘s perspectives.

Weaponxgirl Have you read any Isabel Allende? She's from the same area and writes beautiful books. House of the spirits is a fave. Anyway, stacked! 7y
Lauren_reading @Weaponxgirl I‘ve read a couple - I know Daughter of Fortune- but I haven‘t read the one you mentioned so I‘ll have to check it out! 7y
Weaponxgirl I recently read daughter of fortune and really liked it but house of the spirits was amazing to me. It's one of those books that all the authors future books get compared to by default. 7y
Godmotherx5 I need to read it. Kindle had a bargain a few weeks ago. 7y

In my opinion, the set-up for the book was chosen nicely to display the range of women's experiences in Chile, so that it still made sense to all be in one book. The "Ten Women" are actually nine women's stories and they are connected by the same therapist and the tenth women is the therapist's story. It's almost a collection of short stories that are connected.

My selections from Amazon's World Book Day free books.

There are 3 days, 19 hours left to get your free books.

Traci1 Just out of curiosity, did you pay for the audio additionally or does it just show headphones because that's available on those titles? I was thinking about adding audio to a couple of them. 7y
Beckys_Books @Traci1 I did not pay for the audio because it was free through kindle unlimited. I "bought" just two of the books. I think the audio is extra for them. 7y
Traci1 Oh, that makes sense. I don't have unlimited but I remember now seeing the audio was free for that. Thanks. ☺ 7y
