Stolen: A Novel (Otherworld Book 2) | Kelley Armstrong
17 posts | 63 read | 14 to read
"A taut, sensual thriller that grips from the first page. Elena Michales is at once sublime and sympathetic, a modern heroine who shows that real women bite back." -Karin Slaughter, The New York Times In Book 2 of the Women of the Otherworld series, Elena Michaels is back-and she has company. Lending a mission of vampires, demons, shamans, and witches, Elena is lured into the net of ruthless Internet billionaire Tyrone Winsloe, who is well on his way to amassing a private collection of supernaturals. He plans to harness their powers for himself-even if it means killing them. For Elena, kidnapped and imprisoned deep underground, unable to tell her friends from her enemies, choosing the right allies is a matter of life and death.

I first read this 15 years ago, and accidentally read this before the first book. Makes more sense the right way. I like KA‘s more recent work better, but her first wasn‘t bad. #bookspin done for April - and a much better experience than last month‘s! 😆 @TheAromaofBooks

Also, stupid cover art that has nothing whatsoever to do with the book.

TheAromaofBooks Great review! And covers that don't match their books drive me CRAZY! 5y

Day 3 of #27Hours7Days brought me to six and a half hours. Still working toward two hours per day, but it would be awesome to get more! @KristenDuck
I‘m working on my #bookspin (tagged) and though I read it years (years!) ago I remember very little. @TheAromaofBooks Also school reading with the kiddo helps.

“...my typical beat was freelancing articles on Canadian politics, which never included any mention of demonic phenomena, though it might explain the rise of the neo-conservatives.”

Seems on point right now.

The oracle has spoken! These are my April reads as chosen by the book gods (by way of @TheAromaofBooks ): #bookspin is Stolen, #doublespin is The House of Hades, and #triplespin is Lost in Translation. I‘m hoping to finish others from my stack, too, but we‘ll see!

TheAromaofBooks Woohoo!! 5y

“Okay, now things got tough. In the movies, heroes always get into seemingly impenetrable buildings through a heating duct or ventilation shaft or service entrance. In real life, if someone goes through all the hassle of creating an elaborate security system, they don‘t have a 3 ✕ 3 ventilation shaft secured only by a metal grate and four screws. Unless they‘re really, really stupid.” #Movie #QuotsyJune19

Re-reading this series and enjoyed this installment more on the second time around. I love strong women who are strong in different ways. Clay is far less creepy in this one though I still have a problem with a later pairing in the series. Still good fun.

I sat the book down to grab something. Roll back over and she is sitting on top of it wanting to be petted 😂

I‘ve been so neglecting of my book these last few days. I‘m getting ready to go back to school, two days of orientation, and my birthday yesterday. I just haven‘t had the time. This afternoon I‘m curling up and reading until I fall asleep. 😂❤️

bookishbunny Happy Belated Birthday! And good luck with scho! 7y

So I was reading the other day and my mom came back and asked. What‘s up with the paper clips? So I told her and thought I‘d share. So being s college student I struggle big time with finding tome to finish a book. It some times takes me weeks when it used to take me a day. I‘ll get home and I‘m tired. I think about the long chapters and decided. Read to the paper clip Instead of counting the pages. It honestly makes it seem so less intimidating

Caseynicole44 It‘s also been so much easier to get through a book 7y
kez_dispencer Thanks for the follow! 7y
quirkyreader19 Awesome idea. I am definitely going to try it! 7y

Hey y‘all!! So I turn 23 next week and the problem I seem to have is finding books that I enjoy that are for more adults. So any recommendations?? I‘m a huge fan of teen fiction, werewolves, vampires, demons, demon hunters but I just don‘t relate to a 16 year old girl anymore. I want books like that but they are geared toward my age. So help?

Megabooks I tend not to read those, but I enjoyed this paranormal book 7y
Caseynicole44 @Booksandcooks awesome! Thank you (: 7y

ofclumsywords Have you read any of Sarah J Maas‘ books? In both series the female lead is around 17/18 and has very more mature plots/story lines 😊 7y
Caseynicole44 @Ofclumsywords I have not! I‘ll have to check them out 7y
monalyisha The Morganville Vampires series is “new adult” (college-aged characters). I read all of them (I think there are like, 15 books in the series). I couldn‘t stop! 😅 7y
monalyisha “The Heroine Complex” features demons & superheroes & girl power & was a ton of fun. 7y
monalyisha “The Radleys” by Matt Haig is an adult book with vampires. His writing is great. 7y
monalyisha Alice Hoffman writes beautifully about witches (& often sisterhood)! “Practical Magic” was made into a movie with Nicole Kidman & Sandra Bullock & Stockard Channing (Rizzo from “Grease”!), which I also love. 7y
monalyisha I don‘t know if you‘ve read Maggie Stiefvater, but while her books are YA, they‘re not at all pandering. My favorite series of hers is “The Raven Cycle” (starting with “The Raven Boys,” which is about psychics, dreams, ghosts, etc) - but she also has one about werewolves called “The Wolves of Mercy Falls.” (edited) 7y
Caseynicole44 @monalyisha omg thank you so much!! I added all to my tbr pile! 7y
monalyisha You‘re welcome! That stuff is my jam. I‘ll tag a couple more. 😉 7y
monalyisha “Dark Days Club” is typically YA, I think, but it didn‘t feel young. 7y
monalyisha (this one‘s zombies) 7y
monalyisha Have fun!!! 🙌🏻📖 7y
Copwithabook Start reading Anne Rice‘s Vampire Chronicles. She crafted the modern day vampire. She also wrote The Mayfair Witch trilogy- I thought the first one was fantastic! 7y
DivaDiane For all of that stuff you may want to check out Chris Lester‘s podcast novel Metamor City. He‘s also published a few novels set in Metamor as well, if that‘s more your thing. 7y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Copwithabook Yes! I read all of those in my 20s and 30s. They‘re still big favorites! 7y

Completed. I love following Clay and Elena in these novels. This novel I feel had a lot more suspense than the first one, can't wait to get the next one tonight!

Another great book in the series. I have to admit I liked Bitten a bit better, but Stolen was still pretty awesome and kept me interested throughout. I might have to take a break just to finish some library books, but I'll definitely be back to the series soon!
