I find this message to be infinitely comforting: the notion that while there are multiple houses or thresholds that we “walk out from” or “go back to” in this lifetime, there is one that would forever remain constant. I apparently made it home just in time for the start of the marathon. I didn‘t plan anything this time so I‘m just going to pick books based on what I‘m in the mood for at the moment. #24in48
After my mom died, I discovered that throughout the years, her sister had been writing out Mary Oliver poems and sending them to her via snail mail with little notes. “This poem reminds me of your dog.”, said one. “I read this today and it reminded me of you.”, said another. Oliver was a lifeline between two sisters who would periodically lose one another, the way that sisters sometimes can.
