"Such a funny, sparky book...An ideal read for anyone who's a fan of Christmas or dogs--or both!"--Sophie Kinsella, New York Times bestselling author Thirty-one-year-old Charlie isn't in the mood for Christmas cheer. Her boyfriend has left her for his personal trainer, her mother has absconded with her latest husband for the holidays, and--adding insult to (literal) injury--her London apartment has just been destroyed by a gas leak. Single, mildly concussed and temporarily homeless, Charlie realizes there's only one place to go: Cozy Canine Cottages, where she'll spend the season looking after her cousin Jez's doggy day care center. And if she's not exactly a dog person, well, no one has to know... But her plans for a quiet Christmas in a quaint country village are quickly dashed. Peggy the pregnant beagle and Malcolm the anxious Great Dane seem determined to keep her up all night. A strange man has been casing her cousin's house. And where is Cal, the unbearably patronizing but disturbingly handsome local vet, when she needs him? As the days tick down to Christmas, Charlie's life has never felt so out of control--but with some help from her new four-legged friends, she just might learn a thing or two about living in the moment, embracing the unexpected and opening herself up to love...

Super cute story especially if you like dogs. Loved how Charlie was converted into a dog lover. Just the right amount of drama and romance. I liked that Charlie just couldn't say no even to Noel and Nick. Even though the story takes place in England, I think it was written for an American audience. I say this because the author called a sweater a "sweater" and there was only one slip up to "jumper". 4⭐️ Thanks @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks for my copy

@TheAromaofBooks Thank you so much!!! What a surprise when I opened my mailbox today! I can't wait to read it. I should save it for the winter games. Not sure I have the willpower though! Thanks again for your thoughtfulness!

Charlie is off to watch after her cousin‘s doggy daycare center for the holidays - though she‘s not really a dog person. But a house full of furry friends may just melt her heart.

I completed my #AVeryMerryBingo board with this one and racked up 6 bingos! +1576 #WinterGames2020 #MerryReaders #FestiveFlicks #Cosyathon #travelathon #winterathon #merrybookmas #christmasspirit #crushtherush #readyourway #bookmasbingo #Bookspinbingo

I thought I‘d read this one tonight. It‘s festive and was a present from @Lovesbooks87 at some point. I only saved the title and giver but not what swap. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Lovesbooks87 I think it was a Christmas swap last year but I am not for sure. Hope you enjoy it! (edited) 4y

This booked was pure fluff and I was totally here for it. There were times that it got a bit ridiculous but I overall did like the main characters and most of the secondary ones as well. One complaint? The author emphasizes how one of the dogs is deaf, yet then the dog responds to sound on more than one occasion, including people calling his name! Since there was no reason for the dog to be deaf in the first place, it low-key annoyed me haha ⬇️

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) But on the whole, if you like fluffy Christmas romances (and dogs), this was a fun one.

TheAromaofBooks @AmyK1 @Jadams1776 @MidnightBookGirl @wideeyedreader - Yay!! Thank you!! I'm super stoked about indulging in Christmas/winter reads all month!!! 😁 4y
TheAromaofBooks @Read-y_Picker - Right?? I keep adding to my pile as well! 😂 4y
Read4life This is such a great idea. 4y
TheAromaofBooks @Read4life - I've gotten almost all of these out of little free libraries, at super discounted (less than $3) prices from Book Outlet, & then ordered one box of random used Christmas romances from eBay for about $2/book. It's been fun keeping an eye out for bargains throughout the year & now there's a whole pile of them ready to go!! 4y
Read4life I‘m going to have to keep an eye out all year too. 4y
SaturnDoo Wow!!! I'm impressed 🥰 I enjoy seeing everyone's holiday books. I used to read a few here and there but I guess my tastes have changed 🤷‍♀️😂 and I just don't enjoy them as much as I once did. Crazy🤪 4y
TheAromaofBooks @SaturnDoo - Actually, last year was the first time I read Christmas books during Christmas season on purpose. 😂 But it was kind of fun so I'm going to try it again this year. I think it might work out because I also go through seasons where all I want to do is binge absolute mindless fluff, and I kinda feel one of those spells coming on! 4y

Really cute book. Charlie has just had a big breakup and then suffered a catastrophe at her flat, and is shipped off to her cousin's in the countryside. Her cousin owns a doggy day care/kennel. And Charlie doesn't like dogs. Then her cousin takes off, leaving Charlie in charge. Some crazy happenings and Charlie realizes she might just be a dog person. It's a fun holiday read!

TheAromaofBooks I was so glad to hear the dogs all live!!! 😁 5y
tracey38 @TheAromaofBooks yes, this was a fun book. No deaths! 5y

It has been such a busy week. Worked overtime this past week while battling sinus issues. Yesterday spent all day shopping with my sister (it was our annual Christmas shopping day). Today I did chores. I have barely had any chance to read! But this book is cute and fun so far, and set in England.

TheAromaofBooks I remember you said you were afraid the dogs were going to die, so I am waiting to stack this until after you find out whether or not that's true! 😆 5y
tracey38 @TheAromaofBooks Hmm, I don't remember that, but I don't think that will happen in this book. It seems very lighthearted. But will update when I finish! 5y
TheAromaofBooks Well, in fairness a lot of people are reading Christmas books, so it very easily could have been someone else reading this book and not actually you lol but SOMEONE said every time they read a book with a dog on the cover, the dog died, so they were scared about this one 😁 5y

tracey38 @TheAromaofBooks ah, gotcha. Well, I truly believe all dogs live in this one. Stay tuned. 😁 5y
tracey38 @TheAromaofBooks I finished it and no dogs die. It's a great read! 5y

Day 4 of #bookadventcalendar This is also on my tbr stacks. I love the dogs on the cover but I will admit I‘m also reluctant to read it because so often when there are dogs or a dog on the cover, they die. I‘m holding out hope that a sweet Christmas book wouldn‘t kill off the sweet cover pooches. @LeahBergen

LeahBergen No dying dogs, please! 😭😭 5y

Do any of you use the Bookly app? If you do, how do you handle audiobooks? Just don't add them? Add them when you're finished? Estimate the percentage? Something else?

I'm just starting out with it, and I like it a lot. I think the functionality isn't perfect, but it's a neat little program that has loads of potential.

PSreads73 Never heard of Bookly. Is it like Goodreads? 6y
Traci1 @PSreads73 it's more of a personal book tracker. You can log your books, and it keeps track of all sorts of stats, like pages and hours read. You can set goals and set reminders (I don't so much need reminders to read). I've only been playing around with it for a few days, but I like it so far. 6y
PSreads73 @Traci1 Cool. I‘ll check it out. 6y

Thank you so much for your thoughtful gift, Tracey. I could really use a good cozy fluff read right now. I was sitting next to Henry's hospital bed watching him sleep early this morning when I got the email. It was so nice to have something to smile about. Thank you again so much. ❤❤

dariazeoli Just saw your other post. I hope your son is doing better! 6y
Traci1 @dariazeoli thank you. 😊 He's doing a bit better. The pain has improved, and we're hoping to try a bit of soft food today to see how he handles it. He's very excited about that and is asking for burritos and goldfish crackers (don't think either of those count as soft). 6y

There's dogs, love, personal injury, English countryside, mystery, hunky men with accents, and Christmas, what else do you need in a satisfying Christmas tale, or should I say tail? The bit with the white van is everything my nightmares are made of. I‘m not kidding. It‘s my greatest fear as a dog mom. There could literally be nothing worse in my life.
