Too Close | NATALIE. DANIELS
8 posts | 7 read | 11 to read
For fans of Harriet Lane's HER and Paula Daly's KEEP YOUR FRIENDS CLOSE, TOO CLOSE is a twisting tale of friendship and betrayal. How close is too close? There's a moment, when you meet someone new, when the connection is so strong that making a friend can feel like falling in love. That's how it was for Connie and Ness. They met in the park while their children played and as they talked, they realised they were neighbours. Perhaps it was only natural that they and their families would become entirely inseparable. But when Ness's marriage ends in a bitter divorce, she is suddenly at Connie's house all the time. Connie doesn't have a moment to herself, no time alone with her husband, not a second to chat to her kids. It's all too much. Something has to give. Connie has woken up in a psychiatric hospital. They say she committed a terrible crime but she says she can't remember a thing.

Connie and Ness start out as the greatest of friends, until their lives become just a little bit too entwined and Connie's falls apart. A lesson in how to like a monster, enjoyed this book.

So I‘ve been pretty darn lucky in 2019 to have already read some awesome books! This so far is my favourite 💙 absolutely love when you get lost in a book because the characters were so relatable. When Connie unravelled I felt like I was unravelling with her, getting angry at the same things she was and happy at the same things she was. That‘s all I‘m saying BUT I completely got lost in this book.

I adore the moment that you turn a page to end a book and then turn a page to start a book. One of the things I love most is when you get to decide what to read next. I love it when your reading away and suddenly think wow I was totally lost in that book there for 20 minutes with no conscious thoughts to what‘s around you. #readingrules 📚

GREAT book! I totally get how something like this could happen, from being the perfect family, thriving on friendship and love to feeling betrayed, alone and miserable. Parts were very hard to read, very real and honest, which made me love it more. #NetGalley
