A secret branch of government protects citizens from an unbelievable threat. No, not aliens. Fairy tales. Agent Henry Marchen is a Snow-White-in-waiting. And it just gets weirder from there.
Did this book suffer from being serialized and too haphazard? Yes. Was this a bit plotholey? Yes. Do I prefer Kowal more podcasting than narrating? Yes. Is that going to stop me buying the next one as soon as I post this review? Absolutely not. 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑

They‘re racing to the mailbox 😁
A thoroughly enjoyable fairy tale - inspired urban fantasy. Great characters, malicious villains, and a frightening exploration of the impact of fairy tales loosed on an unsuspecting world. I really like the idea that reality as we know it is just the story that won -- at least temporarily, since all of the other stories are still fighting. #fairytale #urbanfantasy #seananmcguire
NOTE: Tagged as first book as sequel not on litsy yet.

While the first one was a number of short stories that all linked together, this one was more like one complete story. I love the reimaging of the fairy tales while also reminding us of their dark past. It's isn't all Happily Ever After. And I love it 🖤🖤
Starting to work through my sequel list 😁 time to solve crimes, fairytale style!!!
In this X-Files meets Fables urban fantasy, the strained friendship dynamic between Henry and her sometimes nemesis, Sloan, moves the story along. I enjoy friendship stories fraught with conflict, and the relationship between these to characters definitely delivers. Bonus: This story and its sequel are full of references to the Aarne Thompson Index and other things that folklore geeks will eat up. #booktober #friendships
In this world the story can literally kill you. A goverment agency staffed by and tasked to protect the world from fairytale characters, Indexing mashes urban fantasy with fairytales in a mix I've yet to come across. An interesting new world to delve into.
