Why Bad Governments Happen to Good People
Why Bad Governments Happen to Good People | Danny Katch
8 posts | 2 read | 6 to read
The election of Donald Trump has sent U.S. and the world into uncharted waters, with a bigoted, petty man-child at the head of the planets most powerful empire. Danny Katch indicts the hollowness of U.S. political system which led to Trumps rise and puts forward a vision for a real alternative, a democracy that works for the people.

Funny, scathing (really very scathing) and illuminating book about current American politics. I appreciated his focus on the systems that administer democracy and how parties, particularly the Democrats, are run on a wider scale than individuals. I‘m not American so it‘s helpful to get this insight into the different systems behind the govt.

Week 1 #BFC check-in! I got my 4 run/walks, 2 weight machine sessions, and 1 class at the YMCA (in addition to the 2 stretch classes I attend every week) in. I also finished 5 books, so I'm on track to finish 24 by the end of the challenge. I loved the tagged book, Saga devastated me, and the other three (all nonfiction) books were very interesting. I LOVE my #BookNerdHerd team. ❤️ Great first week!

The title “The US Does Everything Wrong Regardless of Who is at the Helm; All Hail King Bernie” would be more accurate for this polemic of American politics. Billed as humor, it is too hyperbolic, self-congratulatory, snarky and eye-rolling to be remotely funny. I am decidedly to the left (the author is a socialist), but I can‘t get behind this.
