Satisfying conclusion to trilogy although I found the court scene with Loyse was incongruous. Otherwise the series was very well plotted and paced. Good character development with clear motivations- despite all the twists and turns of political machinations.

"To gain everything and lose everything in the space of a moment. That is the fate of all princes destined for the throne."

A bit abrupt ending, but a truly wonderful character driven story. I loved this series so much❤

“A kingdom, or this.” Pacat could not have ended this series any better! I wanted to read this slowly and tear through it at the same time. Sad it‘s over, but it was a very satisfying ending. I am a huge fan. 👑👑👑👑👑

This was an amazing ending to a wonderful series. My only complaint was how suddenly it ended. I get the hype.

This final book is heartbreaking beautiful! I loved every second of it.
The development of which character and the romance WAS AMAZING.
One character in particular can fucking burn in hell over and over again.
I would recommend it to everyone who enjoys a good story with a amazing slow-burn romance.

I read this finale in about four hours. I couldn‘t put it down. I was so unsure about this series after book one but the next two books were phenomenal. Pacat builds such complex characters and I was completely hung up on Daemon and Laurent. I am reeling from a four hour binge and I don‘t know what to do with myself

Jokila I remember that feeling 😣 7y

No surprise, the third book in the series was also wonderful! I really was not ready for it to end. There is also a short story, "The Summer Palace," set after the third book, so I'll probably read that later today.

CoffeeCatsBooks I did think it was a bit much, though, that Damen had not already guessed Laurent's secret. 7y

I wish this story would never end, but the end it has is pretty perfect. 🌈 I'm having a hard time imagining anything else unseating it as my new favorite romance series anytime soon. Complex characters, brain-breaking intrigue, and the. best. sex. #romantsy

CaitlinSiem I am always thinking about this series. Always. I loved it so much. Even on rereads it's fantastic. There's a novella coming out in January that is a sort of epilogue and I can't wait! 8y

With Christmas now less than a week away, Earl Grey Editing is shutting down for the year. You may still see me around Instagram a bit (maybe). However, there won't be any more blog posts until 6 January.

So before I go, I thought I'd share my favourite reads from this year.

Chachic I really need to read Ann Leckie's books, I keep hearing good things about them. 8y

Today for #recommendsday is the Captive Prince trilogy! A m/m political thriller romance, this is one addicting series. Those faint of heart be warned, the first book can be squicky. But it's all worth it for the last book's twists and turns!

I adored these books! The first (Captive Prince) moved a little slow and was clearly a first book effort. Prince's Gambit and King's Rising were fast paced, great plot, and wonderful love story.

A book that pulls you in deeper the second time, allows you to experience emotions that make your chest ache even when you know what's going to happen—I read this trilogy for the first time 7 months ago and I loved it even more this time around. Laurent and Damen are unforgettable as is the journey they take.

There are many books/series vying for a spot on my favorites list, but Captive Prince doesn't have to worry. No book can overthrow them.

I laughed at this and at the point when Laurent played the Role of Jokaste wearing a skirt and probably making the captain role down in shame with his blood turned to ice. 😎. Deman is the open hearted warrior but Laurent is the boss.

I just love these two, how they let their guard down, both equal in power distant but definite and anchor into each other by accepting who they truly are- just Damen and Laurent, not kings to be or prince or political players.

Great ending! So many plot twists - I loved it! These two are adorable. Of course I stayed up way too late tonight to finish it (just like last night) even though I was super sluggish today and told myself to go to bed early.
