I was expecting this to be about gatherings with friends, but was surprised to see a much wider view of adding value to get togethers in any setting. I found myself thinking of ways I could incorporate the 15 Toasts or specific rules to some of the work events I plan. I loved the idea of making people step out of their comfort zones in order to be vulnerable and make deeper connections. Her attitude can be jarring, but I can see the value there.

My #Doublespin for February was one I bought long ago after having it recommended by a couple people. It had some interesting parts, but overall, I felt it rambled unnecessarily. @TheAromaofBooks

A surprising delight! This book should be mandatory for event planners, admin assistants and anyone who likes to entertain.

Parker makes some great suggestions, but this book also drug on for me. I do think I‘ll apply some of her ideas, so I‘m giving this book a thumb‘s up, but I don‘t know that I‘d recommend it to others.

I‘ve been on this group a little more than a year and Litsy has been a highlight of 2021. Thank you, All, for your reviews, blurbs and quotes. They often brighten my day and expand my horizons. I have discovered MANY new books based on Litten recs, including the tagged one.

5 stars for this one which I #audiobooked. Author and narrator were warm and straightforward-great combination. Finished a couple days ago, one of my last reads this year.

This insightful book breaks down the thought processes behind planning a meaningful gathering of people- whether a dinner party or a board room meeting. Highly recommend!

The perfect book to read as we think about what we want our post pandemic gatherings to look like. This was great for personal gatherings, and it was surprisingly insightful for work.

So glad to be done with this book. I was reading it for three weeks, but it felt like three months. There were a few interesting concepts, but it was a struggle for me to really get through the whole book. I finished since it‘s for a book club (that already passed 😂). 3⭐️

Outstanding! This book examines the reasons, ways and outcomes around gatherings, events, and meetings. As a meeting planner I found this really interesting and loved her perspective and the ways she challenges the status quo. Gatherings have been difficult over the last year and a half and I think it is a great time to reset and evaluate why and how we have gatherings. Parker gives us a lot to think about. #BookspinBingo

A very good definitive work on what it means to bring people together and how to create a meaningful and memorable experience. Something to reread anytime you are planning a large event.

At the start of the pandemic, I somehow had the lucky grace to stumble upon the author, Suleika Jaouad. In a time of uncertainty, she developed a grass-roots writing community by offering insightful & inspirational daily writing prompts. I can't do her or her work value with my words. I highly recommend googling/checking out The Isolation Journals. I had the good fortune of participating in a live session with the tagged author. It was lovely!

I love this simple exercise. Maybe we should try it with adults.

I don‘t typically read these types of books but I‘m really enjoying this (as I prepare for my annual work retreat). Some of her concepts are so simple, but so rarely put into practice.

I don‘t do a lot of hosting (even in regular, non-pandemic times) but this book still had a ton of fantastic tidbits that could be carried into coaching, teaching, and more. I think I need to get a physical copy.

Commit to a bold, sharp purpose... Build a tribe that wants to meet again.

Nonfiction about humans and how we congregate and why it matters

Took me a while to read this, not because it wasn't great, but because it sparked so many ideas that there were some days I needed a more relaxing read. Great look at how we can better set up gatherings from dinner with friends to corporate workshops to provide better results.

Another book I bought just because of the cheer on the cover!

Don't let the number of tags fool you into thinking I really loved the book. Just want to review a bit. There were a few good tidbits; but, overall, the book was repetitive/excessive. I'm not drinking the Kool-Aid on some of the rules for social gatherings. Sometimes, my purpose really is just to eat/drink/visit with my friends in a casual setting and that's OK! [But, what do I know? I'm only almost an entire adult older than the author. 😂]

Good parts. Good messages. Didn‘t like the voice of the reader for the audio book so much.

Evenings reading outside are the best evenings 🙌🏽

I‘m not typically a nonfiction reader. This was really outside of my box. That being said I was able to read it in its entirety. I highlighted lots of passages and had a lot of takeaways.

Feeling a little indecisive today. I‘ll be choosing from these books this week!!! So much goodness 📚

When I finished this book, I smiled. It was as enjoyable as it was informative which is close to perfection for me in a book. There was so much I knew but did not know about “The Art of Gathering”. She filled in all the missing pieces in an awesome way. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Enjoyable and helpful. Simple yet insightful. Great suggestions and help for having better gatherings.
