Roman Diary
Roman Diary | Richard Platt
2 posts | 2 read
The year is AD 107 and Iliona, an educated Greek girl, has been orphaned and sold as a slave in Rome. Apart from her diary, she hasn't a friend in the world. But the family she works for are not unkind, and as Iliona begins to make friends and look around her, she discovers that the city at the heart of the empire is a fascinating place.

#DivineDecember Day 24: Iliona of Mytilini with #Wreath in her hair, who was captured by Pirates and sold as a Slave in Rome, AD 107 - kept this diary for posterity‘s sake. Truly a riveting historical fiction picturebook. My full review: https://wp.me/pDlzr-bl

Started and finished this book today to prep for reading it next week with the 6th graders! I think it‘s a great classroom resource and will help them really visualize daily life in Ancient Rome.
