Whoa disturbing! This is the offspring of dystopia ancestor 1984 (nod in the title), with Handsmaid Tale, A Clockwork Orange, Mad Max, Children of Men and a consumer world gone berserk, filling in the rest of this story‘s genealogy. Not for everyone- it jumps around a lot and the “poetic” aspect with nary a complete sentence, can jangle the nerves. North creates a mood with that style however which made this an enjoyable if chilling read for me.
