Clue of the Leaning Chimney
Clue of the Leaning Chimney | Carolyn Keene
8 posts | 22 read | 3 to read
Nancy Drew and her friend Bess discover that a rare and valuable Chinese vase has been stolen from the pottery shop of Dick Milton, a cousin of Bess. Dick had borrowed the vase from his Chinese friend, elderly Mr. Soong, and he is determined to repay Mr. Soong for the loss. He tells Nancy that if he can find "the leaning chimney," he will be on the track of a discovery which will solve his financial problems. Nancy finds the leaning chimney, but it only leads her into more puzzles. Can there be any connection between the vase theft - one of a number of similar crimes - and the strange disappearance of the pottery expert Eng Moy and his daughter Lei?

The Clue of the Leaning Chimney is a Nancy Drew Mystery. I really enjoyed it, as I do all the Nancy Drew mysteries.

Meddlesome Nancy, always foiling schemes!

Number 25 for #nancydrewchallenge, and still firmly in the George Fayne category, but we‘re getting there.

This installment had a lot of casual racism that I edited out as I read aloud. If there was one more “inscrutable Chinese” I was going to scream. That brings it down to 3/5 ⭐️

ravenlee This is number 14 for #14books14weeks - I did it! With only one substitution from my original stack! Now to see how I can do on the summer challenges from the library. Thanks @TheHeartlandBookFairy for the challenge! 5y

My husband and father-in-law are taking down the chimney today. My bookshelves are wrapped up tight in hopes that I won't have to clean massive amounts of dust off of all of my books!

callielafleur Good luck! 6y
BucklingBookshelves Good luck! My parents had theirs taken down and it was a very dirty/dusty operation! 6y
smilingshelves @Bucklingbkshelf It is indeed! I'm trying to hide out in our bedroom with the baby, but eventually I'll need to venture into the dirt to get some lunch! ☺️ 6y

I was reading on my own by the time I was 4. I graduated to early chapter books pretty early, too. I remember reading my first Nancy Drew when I was in 2nd grade after my Mom pulled it off a shelf to keep me occupied. I devoured the series. That led to The Secret Garden, the Oz series, Dr. Dolittle, and more. However, The Mystery of the Leaning Chimney will always hold a special place in my heart. #jennasfinalproject.

Jaimelire I was obsessed with Nancy Drew! 8y
