This is a squirrel . . . "Hey, I may be a squirrel, but my name is Taco! And I don't eat nuts and tree bark--blech--I prefer tacos!" The natural predator of squirrels is . . . "Whoa, whoa, whoa! Who is writing this book? I do not like where this is going." This hilarious send-up of a children's nature primer teaches kids that the most important story is the one you write yourself.

Read this for this month‘s #ReadWithMrBook prompt that was #LitsyAwardWinner. I have started to read a lot of picture books this year and I really liked this one.

Another Eisner Award nominee, this one for Best Publication for Early Readers (up to age 8), added to the library today. Taco is a squirrel who also happens to really like...tacos. Promised there would be tacos, Taco agreed to appear in the book. The only problem is there are no tacos. Instead, Taco finds a predator lurking in the pages. The regular use of speech bubbles definitely gives this fun, enjoyable book a comic feel.

A squirrel after my own ❤️! Taco is a squirrel who loves to eat 🌮, but for this book he must fill in as an average squirrel in order to teach readers more about them. It is a cute picture book that combines humor, bold visuals, & squirrel facts w/ a side of sheer silliness - just for good measure. Kids & adults alike will enjoy this comical, yet informative, tale. And maybe they‘ll even learn a thing or two. I know I did! 👏

5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A squirrel is promised tacos if he appears in a nonfiction story about squirrels. But things go quickly downhill when promised tacos do not appear. This is one determined squirrel. He is going to get his tacos even if he has to write them in himself. This was a lot of fun. The illustrations combined with the story is sure to make kids laugh.

Chellebearss Glad to see this was good. I tried to get it from netgalley but the file wouldn‘t work 😢 7y
tpixie Have you heard of Crown: an ode to a fresh cut? My sister was telling me about it yesterday. Apparently it‘s all over in PR and has won a bunch of awards 7y
