This was my first Catherine Ryan Howard book and it did not disappoint! This book is centered around a serial killer‘s (ex) girlfriend named Alison. The majority of the book is told from her perspective—from the past and the present. I found it to be very engaging and liked the short chapters.

I only discovered Catherine Ryan Howard about a year ago, but now with this one finished I‘ve already read all her books. She always does something clever with her stories. I enjoyed this but it didn‘t displace 56 Days and Rewind as my favorites.

This was my #DoubleSpin for Feb.

Alison fled to the Netherlands 10 years ago after someone in her life was implicated in a series of murders in Dublin. But now the Garda are asking for her help when similar killings start happening. I enjoyed this CRH backlist book, though I think some of her more recent ones are a bit better. But don‘t read the publisher‘s description—it completely spoils the book.

An engaging, slow-burn psychological thriller with a good twist at the end! This is my third book by this author - “56 Days” is my favorite! She reliably delivers mysteries with a creepy atmosphere and a clever plot. 🎧

I've read three of Catherine Ryan Howard's Irish thrillers and really found each of them compelling. I am looking forward to more.

Will Hurley is Ireland‘s most famous serial killer and although he is in prison, someone is killing women as a copy cat.

I was fairly invested in the story, but now that it‘s over this book almost feels like a so-so. I think maybe bc this is not rly my genre. Serial killer-detective-victim plots are always a bit repetitive to me, tho I will say this was well written and well thought out, which many aren‘t. If crime novels are your thing, defo go for it.

For some reason I'm just in the mood for easy thrillers right now, and this fit the bill. After her college boyfriend confessed to killing 5 girls ten years ago, she shut herself off from the world. But now, new girls are being murdered with a similar MO. Is it a copycat killer or has he been innocent all along? I was compelled to keep turning the pages and definitely entertained!

I really liked this one. Haven‘t had much time to read in the past few weeks so the audio book was fun. Love the irish accents!

I really enjoyed this thriller! Fast-paced, with good suspense and dual timelines, and a couple of unexpected twists! Definitely recommend. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

I borrowed this #audiobook from the #Audible Plus catalog. It had an interesting storyline, with more details about the murders and the killer unfolding as the author shifted from past to present and back again. The author clearly noted the narrator and time period for each chapter, so there was no confusion. I would definitely read more by this author.

This is my second book by this author, and while I didn't get sucked in like I did with The Nothing Man, I still found this to be a decent listen/read. Like TNM this also puts you in the head of the serial killer through one of the various POV's...which always ups the creep factor. This author does not shy away from the graphically gory scenes.

This one was really good. I liked the way they went through the two timelines of the crimes.

I haven‘t heard of this one, but it‘s a new audiobook available at my library. Anyone else checked this one out?

This was really good! I m glad I waited until the end of the month to read it- I flew through the final 15 or so chapters and would have had a hard time reading only a little bit per day.

A 2019 Edgar nominated mystery. 10 years after locking up a 19 year old college student who confessed to the murders of 5 women, similar murders recur. Is it a copycat or did the police lock up the wrong man 10 years ago? The man locked up as the Canal Killer claims to have information but will only talk to his former girlfriend, who‘s brought back from the Netherlands to assist police with their investigation. Quite the page turner.

Solid 4 stars. Good story, audio version was well done. Sort of saw the final twist coming, but it was satisfying nonetheless. Would recommend. Read for challenge.

Enjoying the last hours of the holiday weekend..tomorrow it‘s off to San Antonio for a couple of days and then back to Alaska. Soaking up as much sun and 90 degree weather as I can!

Reading this book was a wonderful way to escape what was a very tough week in my neighbourhood. It sucked me right in and it never let up. I really hated to put it down for any length of time. My only complaint is that despite all of the twists and turns, I wasn't really that suprised by the denouement. #willowdalestrong #torontostrong

Gaaaaahhhh this was a perfect audiobook

I‘m spending the morning elbows deep in @bookriot business, and it‘s sufficiently rote for me to get my audiobook on. I usually listen on a higher speed, but the Irish accents are charmingly challenging.

What an amazing book I did really enjoy this kept me guessing throughout worth the read!

This was quite the gripping, page turning read. It's not the most dramatic but the build up is very good. I liked the flashback to the past. The big scene with the killer was good but seemed a little rushed. The ending was good too and a clever twist that really tied up the whole story.

The past returns with a vengeance in this crime thriller. It was well-written and kept my attention. Only one thing stopped it getting full marks - when the author had the MC do something monumentally stupid near the end. Rating: 4 ⭐️

Today was a good reading day! It was rainy and dreary out and aside from running to my parents for a few hours and some small things at home I started 3 books today! And im loving them all! I'm up to page 94 in one, page 50 in my #lmpbc one, and 38 % done on my kindle one! So stinks that tomorrow is back to work after 10 days off for winter break 😞 and next few weekends are super busy. Wish I could have one day a week like today every week!
