I'm still new to poetry but I loved this. The imagery was amazing, so much conjured up things I hadn't thought about together. The content too, about a woman coming into herself. Then to top up my love that was growing in sneaks a poem about frida khalo. Not named but you know it's her.
For uk littens this is on #scribd which was a very pleasant surprise.
I'm going to keep on reading at least one poetry book a month so I can find more like this
This was a great collection of poems reflecting on how a young woman comes to find her place in the world and love herself. Many of the poems use the Ariadne myth as a basis, but others relate to art and her Mexican American culture.
A cortado + chocolate croissant + poetry = perfect morning break. There is a bookstore right next door. May have to go there next.
AWP haul!

I was hooked from the first poem, "Do You Speak Virgin?" from this impressive debut collection by Analicia Sotelo.
My favorites included "Ariadne's Guide to Getting a Man," "My Mother & the Parable of the Lemons," and "My English Victorian Dating Troubles." eARC from Milkweed - Virgin comes out February 20!
In an effort to infuse more poetry into our lives my daughter and I came to see the author of this collection tonight at our wonderful indie bookstore - Brazos Books 📚
