I'm trying to read bks sat in piles unrd while the library is shut. This proved a dark thriller which was unsettling with an unreliable narrator. Liese,30ish Eng woman in Melbourne shows off flats and houses, to meet debts she has sexual encounters in the properties with Alexander. As she plans to return to Eng he invites her to his remote Bush farm for a wknd+a sum she can't ignore. This short novel left the me uncertain + tense, good quick read

I had high hopes for this one when I started out. The writing is mysterious and will keep the reader engrossed. Hooper knows how to set a mood in the story that evokes a certain eroticism mixed with fear. The descriptions of nature and the habits of animals and them becoming prey and subsequently meals add to the gothic horror feeling. But Hooper lets her work down tremendously in part 3 with an ending that makes no sense. Terribly disappointing!

A psychological thriller that if it hadn‘t have been well written would have been a dud. It certainly kept me wondering but in the end it seems it was a game and unfortunately the woman was the one being played with. It was definitely a story I hadn‘t heard before. ⭐️⭐️⭐️🌛from me.

This weekend was crazy and I literally got no reading done. However it was because I threw an Up themed going away party for my best friend AND she ended up surprising all of us at it because she announced her engagement!
