Harry turned in his badge & now he can turn to an old case that stuck with him. There was something so effecting about this one for me, is that it is told in first person? Is it that now he is not a cop he literally has no back up? Not that as a cop he didn‘t often go his own way.Drive, drive, drive for me but the next 3 will be in book format , found em cheap at a yard sale!
There are definitely problems with this novel (0% body fat on one character, inconsistent use of the term "holy shit case" as it was defined a book or two ago), but overall I find Bosch's evolution in this one quite interesting, and the first person viewpoint makes a huge difference in the hardboiled detective's approachability as a character. I like how we get to see how this very insightful character has such a blind spot about himself.
Waiting in the courtyard for my kiddo and listening to the tagged audiobook, I just learned that a character had 0% body fat! Very impressive (and impossible).
One thing I know to be true - Michael Connelly sure knows how to stick the landing! Such a great story teller. I haven't enjoyed a crime series this much since I discovered Will Trent 👏🏽
Great as a stand-alone read even though this is book 9. A little flat at the start but overall an entertaining one and I liked how it ended 💪🏻
Book #9 in the Harry Bosch series. I liked the case in this one. It was interesting and it took a while for all the pieces to fit in place. Harry isn‘t in a good headspace for most of this one...but his one bullet theory with Eleanor is a constant theme. Definitely a key book in the overall HB timeline.
I thoroughly enjoyed this ninth installment in the Bosch series! The plot doesn‘t bear resemblance to anything yet covered by the television show (although a key character is finally introduced!!!) and Harry has something of a new career as he focuses on one of his own cold cases here. Entertaining and engaging, this is another great one for #audiocoloring and #audiodriving!
Another fantastic book in the series absolutely loved it.
The ending? Just wow! Can't wait to read The Narrows ?
"I wanted to see the lost light. You can always find it. Even in the dark, even underground." Harry Bosch.
Well I said I would be getting my read on this evening and I certainly have, only got 60 pages left 😁 God I love Harry, he's got me hooked again ❤
New book!
Book number 9 in the Harry Bosch series. I do love him 😊 Should be interesting now he's no longer an LAPD Detective 🕵️♂️
Evening reading. Still very hot because house hasn‘t cooled down. At least we really can‘t hear fireworks so Evie is calm. #MountTBR
Another excellent instalment in the life and cases of Hieronymous “Harry” Bosch, now retired from LAPD.
