The Closers
The Closers | Michael Connelly
He walked away from the job three years ago. But Harry Bosch cannot resist the call to join the elite Open/Unsolved Unit. His mission: solve murders whose investigations were flawed, stalled, or abandoned to L.A.'s tides of crime. With some people openly rooting for his failure, Harry catches the case of a teenager dragged off to her death on Oat Mountain, and traces the DNA on the murder weapon to a small-time criminal. But something bigger and darker beckons, and Harry must battle to fit all the pieces together. Shaking cages and rattling ghosts, he will push the rules to the limit--and expose the kind of truth that shatters lives, ends careers, and keeps the dead whispering in the night...

Harry Bosch and Kiz Rider join LA's elite Open/Unsolved Unit (AKA cold case unit) to help piece together the mysterious death of a teenage girl in 1988. Engaging plot, characters, and twists!

#serieslove2023 Bosch ditches the PI gig & goes back to LAPD.Chief Irving “welcomes “ him back calling him a retread & saying he‘s watching for the screw up. Bosch has one of the hardest tasks , closing very old cases. The murder of a teen , decades old . I love Bosch , he and the city of L.A.are great characters.Been a long time since I read 2 in a row from a continuing series.

Andrew65 An excellent series that I really need to get back to. Well done 👏👏👏 2y

Why Littens don‘t exactly hate jury duty !😀📚

LeahBergen Ooo, I hope you get an interesting trial! 2y
Leftcoastzen @LeahBergen I sat there most of the day, ended up excused. 2y
Bookwomble @Leftcoastzen Someone saw you reading and thought, " We don't want a reflective person capable of critical analysis on the jury," perhaps? ??? 2y
AmyG I call those…reading opportunities! 2y
dabbe When I was a teacher, I'd bring my stack of papers to grade. 📝 So glad to now be able to bring a book--or two--or three--or just the Kindle. 🤣 2y

I like the direction Connelly takes this one and how Bosch is evolving. I'm also glad the audiobook included a little note from the author at the end as I'd started to get suspicious that maybe Connelly was one of those authors who doesn't write his own books, but he seems legit, so I can feel comfortable continuing to read him.

Traci1 I love these on audio. I especially like the ones Titus Welliver narrates. He makes an excellent Bosch. 2y
ImperfectCJ @Traci1 I've listened to a couple narrated by Welliver, and I agree, he does a good job. I also like Len Various quite a bit. I'm not as big a fan of Richard Davidson on these (he pronounces "Cabrillo" with a hard "L" sound, and I find that very distracting). I think he only did A Darkness More than Night, though, so I don't encounter his narrations much. 2y
ImperfectCJ @Traci1 Len Cariou, not "various." My autocorrect really dislikes his last name, it seems 2y

Good mystery. I found the story got bogged down a bit in the details 3/4 of the way through but I enjoyed the ending.

This one brings Bosch back to the LAPD, now working cold cases. I was hooked hooked hooked. Michael Connelly can basically do no wrong in my opinion though, his endings are always perfectly executed! 👏🏽

bookishdawg He‘s one of the few authors I‘ve found whose series stays strong... Bosch books are an auto buy for me! (And I‘m ready to visit the LA hangouts mentioned so often) 😊👍🏻 4y
swishandflick @bookishdawg So good!! I'm kicking myself for not finding the series sooner. Better late than never 😆 4y

Book #11 of the Harry Bosch series. Bosch is bank with LAPD and he does totally close his first case. It‘s a good story that sucks you in. It‘s good to see Harry back where he belongs. Although the books were obviously written first, it is a bit jarring to go bank and read them In order. I picture people and events a certain way from the tv show (which is great) and it doesn‘t line up w/the books. Both are great though & I recommend.

I really enjoyed this addition to the Bosch series!! It‘s a strong plot, and a nice return for a lot of the series regulars! I liked the storyline‘s twists and I enjoyed not only #AudioColoring to this one but also got in some organizing and cleaning! Looking forward to the 12th book!!

I‘ve always enjoyed the Harry Bosch novels but this time, not so much. The storyline wasn‘t compelling and the dialogue was dated.

"Maybe they knew what was coming, that the city was going to burn. Rodney King wasn't the gasoline. He was only the match. Things have been building and maybe the powers that looked at this case and said for the public good, we have to go the other way. They sacrificed justice for Rebecca Verloren."
