Curries, hoppers and roti.... a Sri Lankan feast for this wet and miserable day!
This is an amazing book - simple recipes - but they taste just like my in laws family meals in Sri Lanka. Favourites are pineapple curry, cashew nut curry and pork with black vinegar.
Kicking off the birthday weekend with my favourite - Sri Lankan breakfast at our local park cafe, outside in the sun. It was also a good place to reflect on how far I‘ve come with #bfcr3 - walked 43 miles this week, wore a pair of jeans I‘ve not been able to for quite some time (and smiled every moment of wearing them) and have had sugar under control on most days. @Blaire @nelehelen @callielafleur @Chrissyreadit @sudi @MicrobeMom @crazeedi
Of course I only ever use my mother in laws recipes but if you was to need a cucumber curry recipe because the greens house is busting with cucumbers then this is the book I would choose! 😉😉😉
My husband and I have chosen 12 cookery books from our shelves to cook through this year - one a month. January is all about Sri Lanka, courtesy of the amazing Emily Donna. Today we made cucumber curry, cashew nut curry and mutton rolls. It was delicious ! I love the weekends!
So...we‘re cooking from a different cook book every month this year. January is Weligama by Emily Dobbs. I can recommend it !!! Tonight we had chicken curry, cucumber curry, dhal with kale and rice. It was great! #adifferentcookbookeachmonth #cookbook #foodandbooks
1- I have so many favourite cuisines! But if I had to choose it would be Italian, Sri Lankan and Chinese. 2- No theme - but I hope it‘s warm and homely. When house hunting many years ago our number one wish list item was a kitchen big enough for a large table to gather around. Which we have! 3- Mincers / Choppers and beautiful wooden spoons 4- Too many to list! 5- Savory or mint chocolate! 6- A bar chopping board! Thanks @MinDea #feedareader
Reviving a tradition we did a few years ago - picking one cookbook to cook from for the whole month. For January we‘re craving heat and comfort so we‘ve chosen a month of curry. Meal planning is going to be so much fun next week. #cookbooks #foodandbooks #familytime
