The Geography of You and Me
The Geography of You and Me | Jennifer E. Smith
Lucy lives on the twenty-fourth floor. Owen lives in the basement. It's fitting, then, that they meet in the middle -- stuck between two floors of a New York City apartment building, on an elevator rendered useless by a citywide blackout. After they're rescued, Lucy and Owen spend the night wandering the darkened streets and marveling at the rare appearance of stars above Manhattan. But once the power is back, so is reality. Lucy soon moves abroad with her parents, while Owen heads out west with his father. The brief time they spend together leaves a mark. And as their lives take them to Edinburgh and to San Francisco, to Prague and to Portland, Lucy and Owen stay in touch through postcards, occasional e-mails, and phone calls. But can they -- despite the odds -- find a way to reunite? Smartly observed and wonderfully romantic, Jennifer E. Smith's new novel shows that the center of the world isn't necessarily a place. Sometimes, it can be a person.

#YA romance with a twist. I‘m not usually a big romance reader but add in travel and I decided to give this a shot. It‘s a quick and enjoyable read. I see @SarahBradley just finished another of Smith‘s #ya novels with a train trip. I‘m going to have to check that out too.

#YApril book 12

Being there like that, so close to him, she had to remind herself that this wasn't real. It wasn't a date but an accident. It wasn't romantic, only practical. They were just two people trying to make it through the night, and it didn't mean anything beyond that.

When the power goes out in New York, Lucy and Owen are trapped in an elevator together. After that night together, they connect through postcards from afar until they are able to meet again.

This book tore at my travel bug heartsleeves as they both traveled West to Portland and East to France. This year will be the first year in awhile where I stay put for a bit, but it's for the best and healthiest outcome.

My second Jennifer E. Smith. It was okay, not a lot of moments for the 2 central characters. I would love to read more about what will happen to their futures. The ending still has a lot of uncertainties.

LaraCroft And not just that! Since the book is telling a somewhat "REALISTIC" story, then how the heck am I supposed to believe that any couple wld leave their 16 yr old kiddo alone in an apartment IN GODDAMNED NEW YORK CITY, TO SPEND MOST OF THE TIME LIVING ON HER OWN HANGING OUT WITH PPL SHE HAS NO IDEA WHETHER THEY'RE A SERIAL KILLER OR NOT WHILE HER FREAKING PARENTS ARE ENJOYING THEMSELVES IN SM OTHER COUNTRY ON ANOTHER CONTINENT OR ON SM GOD FORSAKEN ISLAND 6y

It was a good book. I enjoyed reading it! But it's not like that I have a 'wow' feeling. It's nice to clear your mind!

LaraCroft I learned my lesson: if I wanna clear mind , Diary of a wimpy kid is my go to series of books XD ......really helps ^^ 6y

This book took me forever to read lol but that was just because I was busy with college and midterms. It was a fun read I guess, there were just moments when I got annoyed with the characters but they were likeable nonetheless. The ending was worth it tho!

Er war wie einer ihrer noch ungelesenen Romane, am besten verstand man ihn am richtigen Ort, für richtigen Zeit.
Sie konnte kaum erwarten weiterzulesen.

Reading another Jennifer E. Smith book was like a taste of sweet honey oozing off its jar -- tingly senses and all, and with so much freshness and sweetness contained in its context. I'm sure contemporary readers would be delighted to read a story of a long-distance relationship that never falters.
