I hate that I didn‘t love this more. Perhaps my expectations were too high after adoring the first in the series but I found myself bored in many places. The stakes weren‘t as high in this book and for me the plot a bit too similar to book one in some ways as well. Hopefully this sets up a stellar third novel which I will read eventually.

This was an amazing sequel. Marillier has created some powerful women in her stories and I love it. Can‘t wait to start the next book!

Loved this one as much as the first

This installment didn't quite give me the same pleasure as the first. It lagged quite a bit for me at the end and felt largely like a stepping stone to the third book. On the other hand, it introduced really interesting characters whose stories I look forward to reading about. All the same, I think I'll take a breather from Sevenwaters for a spell and revisit a series I haven't touched in a while - let's hope this sequel is stronger!

Marillier writes my kind of female protagonist — a strong woman whose weapon is her brain, not a sword. This is the second in a series based on Irish folklore. It was sappy and melodramatic at times but I liked it. The narrator did the most amazing job. I swear I thought there was a whole cast of narrators, but it was just one woman with some mad voice skills. 4⭐️s

I liked this continuation in the Sevenwaters series. I still love Daughter of the Forest more, but this was a good book. Gutwrenching, but good.

I wish it were still the weekend, and I did not have to work! Oh well.

I loved this book. Liadan was such an engrossing character, and her strength was so inspiring. The romance was absolutely lovely, despite lacking picture perfection.

This novel was powerfully feminine. I am not sure I can do its beauty justice in this review. I will be rereading it for years to come.

A selection of books with some favorite couples for #InTheMoodForLove

Out of these, Bran & Liadan and Arin & Kestrel are probably my favorites. Two of these novels aren't very romance-y and all, but I still love the couple in them. Sadly, I have some of my top favs only on e reader and wouldn't make a great picture so couldn't include them.

When all you want to do after working through the holiday weekend is stay home and read.

This was just okay compared to the first book in the series. There are a couple plot things I had issues with but still really enjoyed the lyrical writing and descriptions.

I'm rereading this book right now and it's even better the second (okay, third. Okay, fourth) time around. The characters are amazing and strong and I think this is my favorite book in the Sevenwaters series.
