My first reread of this and it won‘t be my last.

I continued with my chapter a day read of A Study in Scarlet
I‘m also reading Skogen (The Forest) and still The Running Grave

And then I think my current read The Running Grave will keep me occupied for the rest of the week
The habit of kissing under the mistletoe is curiously English. We seem to have conveniently forgotten that a berry should be picked each time a kiss is given, and once the berries are no more, then so are the kisses.
(Funnily enough, this never comes up in all the Christmas rom-coms I watch before Christmas)
To see Fornum & Main‘s Christmas windows is to step into the pages of a book of fairy tales. Each year they glisten and sparkle, like frost in a topiary garden, a scene of old-fashioned wonder and delight.
I‘ll meet you outside Fortnum‘s means you will have something more interesting to look at than your phone.
Among the most memorable were those based on illustrations by Kristjana Williams and featuring tree hundred paper birds, leaves and
Thumbing through and came across these lines - agreed!
You can argue that statistically more people take their own life in cold countries. Yet those same countries, with their long winters and fewest hours of daylight, continually come out too in quality of life surveys. Go figure
‘Come in‘. Two short words, heavy with meaning. Step out of the big, bad, wet world and into my home. You‘ll be safe here, toasty and well fed. ‘Come in‘. They are two of the loveliest words to say and to hear.
This was such a delight. I love Christmas and to read the thoughts of a fellow Christmas lover, was so enjoyable. Starting November 1st and with entries for almost everyday until now. I loved reading about Wien and the German Christmas Markets, his love for Christmas cards, scented candles and Christmas trees. I‘m not a food person, but the recipes sounded great too.
4th book for #JoyousJanuary Another from my currently reading list @Andrew65
Such a beautiful, seasonal read with heartwarming stories, traditions and recipes

I'm going to fill the holiday season with heaps of cosy books, short stories and fairy tales. All snuggled up in comfy blankets with a fave tipple and scented candle. Planning a very hygge-ish holiday season. Plus games with my kiddos and everyone on here doing #midwintersolace
The tagged is one of my favourite reads

Can't wait to hibernate!!
My ankles may be swollen & I might be sleep-deprived but thanks to my mother I‘m almost done my holiday baking!
Here‘s what I‘ll be finishing up this week so that I‘ll be starting 2021 with a clean (book) slate. 😄
(And I‘m enjoying my first cup of tea in my new #ElfSwap mug from @DinoMom ❤️).
Listening to Nigel Slater read all about the Christmas windows in London and making mince pies I decided I needed to do a wintery pastel. Love this season!🤶🌲☃️🌬
Anyone else follow the tradition of reading this beautiful book from November to February 2- also, start the podcast listening on December 1 for the run up to Christmas- such a joy!☃️🎄
Such a great festive read. It really gets you in the mood for a traditional and less commercialised Christmas
I received this beautiful book last year, & put it away, so I could read from start to finish this year. It begins with November, & each passage is filled with beautiful musings on the transition of the seasons, winter, the holidays, & the foods and comforts that Slater beautifully cooks & describes. I‘m loving it! Tonight for dinner, I made his leeks, beans and Italian sausage dish. And for dessert, marmalade baked pears with vanilla ice cream.
I started reading this celebration of winter at the beginning of the month (it starts on November 1st and runs to February 2nd) and I‘m very much enjoying the little bit of time I spend with it each day! ☕️
One of my favorites from last year. I adore Nigel Slater.

Day 2
*Swoon!*
I adore Slater‘s narrative-laden cookbooks. This one is especially lovely.
#SundayMorningCoffeeMug This Sunday Morning reading Nigel Slater‘s memories of Christmas sprinkled with his excellent recipes- what a beautiful naked hardback edition. Also, finally addressing my Christmas postcards- I do a painting every year and this one is from our local greenway, painted En Plein Air in July. Happy Sunday Littens!
