It is the presumed mission of all women, a quest for a man, and no amount of bloodshed can dissuade the myth.

What did this longing matter, or the sky far, far above this dark place underground? What did it matter where she wanted to go? Nothing would change...
We steal the happiness of others in order to be happy ourselves, and when it is stolen from us we voyage desperately to steal it back. We are pirates.

Just a few of the titles gifted to my sons this Christmas that I can't wait to read along with them in 2018.
Could not be more excited about this find. Look at that cover! 😍

What happens when two teenage girls volunteering at a nursing home convince a senior with dementia to become a pirate? It goes about as well as you think...with maybe a bit more bloodshed. #anditsaugust #seniorcitizens

Normally, I love Daniel Handler, but this one was a bit jumpy and bizarre. I liked that it took place in San Francisco, so that made it easier to follow since I could easily picture all the action. Plus, I love the pirate store/tutoring center Handler is involved with: 826 Valencia. I could even relate to the 14 year old Gwen in several ways. Still, not one I'll be fervently recommending.
Almost made my 3 book goal for #biblioweekend! Remember the brunch guests I had on Saturday? They went of into the woods camping, got stung by bees, and encountered a windy, cold, noisy campground, so back they came on Sunday and partying ensued. Still, 2 1/2 books in a weekend=not too shabby. P.S. This book is kooky!
Already starting #biblioweekend. Brunch guests tomorrow and then NO PLANS. These three are my goals by Monday night.
I love Daniel Handler, but I did not love this book. The writing is funny, but the plot suffers from a lack of direction and in the end is completely confusing. Knowing Handler's writing, I wonder if he is deliberately misleading us. Still a hilarious and dark read.
