Lagom
Lagom: Not Too Little, Not Too Much: The Swedish Art of Living a Balanced, Happy Life | Niki Brantmark
In a fast-paced world, wouldnt it be wonderful if you could slow down and enjoy a life with less pressure, less stress, and more time for the things you love? Sweden is ranked in the top three of the worlds happiest places to live, and lagom, which means not too much and not too littlejust right, is the Swedish philosophy for enjoying balance in every aspect of lifefrom work and leisure to family and food, and everything in between. Experienced bakers know by touch when the dough they are kneading is lagomnot too moist and not too dry. At the office, professionals who work hardbut not to the detriment of other parts of their livesare following the lagom ideal. Lagom is moderation, balance, and equality. By using the Swedish lifestyle as an example, Niki Brantmark offers insightful suggestions and bite-sized actions to help you make subtle changes to your life, so you too can make time for the things that matter most and find greater happiness.

I enjoyed reading about lagom as much as reading about hygge. This book gave me some insights into the Swedish culture. The author covered all aspects of life in this book to which I appreciated a lot. Another book completed during #FabulousFebruary.

#24in48 #hour18challenge This is the only book on my nightstand, primarily because most of my books are on my Kindle, but also because I keep essential oils and a diffuser there also, and with a cement floor I don‘t want to accidentally drop and break any of them on my floor. I like to read a few pages from this book from time to time - helps me connect with my Swedish roots 😊

Felt very underwhelmed by this selection of things to do if you're privileged and live in a society that holds value for all of the things mentioned.

I did the audiobook version. It‘s only four hours. Lagom is like being a Libra...everything in balance. Good enough to borrow, but not worth buying. After last year‘s hygge trend, all of this book‘s info is familiar. I‘m sure the print version would be more interesting, but still better to borrow unless you are obsessed with the Swedish lifestyle.

aleph You may want to check out The Almost Nearly Perfect People to follow it up. Lagom has a good side but also a side that can cause Swedes to sigh wearily. Here is lagom in action: https://youtu.be/avoKDIEyJ6M 7y

Perfect read for cold Sunday morning. It's a very pretty book with beautiful pictures. It's a #readmyshelves2018 #MountTBR #MountBlanc book I will be keeping.

I‘ve been reading the Danish hygge books because it‘s a big percentage of my heritage. But I wanted to get a sense of what other countries value. This book discusses living well with minimalism and mindfulness and tips on respecting nature, being involved in community, saving energy, celebrating holidays, and parenting. Lovely photos and even a few recipes are tucked into all the tips of living with “not too much and not too little.”

Not sure what the Swedes would make of binging for 24 hours in a 48 hour period on reading, but I suspect from the subtitle “(Not Too Little, Not Too Much)” it may not be advisable... 🤣. Coming down the home stretch of this readathon!

#TBRtemptation post 9! Just released. Now that you may be all hygged out, lol, see what the Swedes have to offer. Lagom means "not too little, not too much, just right". Juggling priorities, reducing stress, eating well, saving money, enjoying downtime, and coffee-break culture, going green, staying clean and orderly, etc., are all explored. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook ?

Wbabdullah Well this seems to be right up my alley as I try to finish “the” book on hygge!! Now, what‘s the pronunciation of lagom? It took quite a while to drill “hoo-ga” in my mind for “hygge”.😂 (edited) 7y
