Jack Candlesticks asks too many questions, doesn�t have any close friends, and despises being called Jack, or Candlesticks. He prefers Sticks. At 19, he has one goal, to support his ill and widowed father after his health forces them to close their candle shop.
His father pushes him to pursue a position at the great mansion on the edge of town. He is to be the new chandler, a term, and position having gone extinct in the late 1800�s. Yet over a hundred years later, the house is lit only by candles and is in need of a new candlestick maker.
The hallways feel like they move unexpectedly, the staff seemed to have stopped aging, his boss Mr. Coleman answers none of his questions, and days pass by in what feels like hours. Yet every day he is fed, has a warm bed, and earns a living for his father.
When a single candle is left unlit, a schism from long ago is reignited. An exiled Aunt wants her house back and is willing to kill Sticks, and everyone living under its roof to claim it as her own.
