Audio. This second book feels like it was more written for kids than the first was. This was written halfway as the author speaking to the reader, which I‘m not a fan of. The story of Roz going home from the factory to the island was well rounded, enough worry to have deeper concepts. Though it felt too quick for something happening to have a full impact.

Peter Brown lyrically tells the story of Roz, a farm robot. Recently refurbished, Roz is determined to find her way back home to her son. Like in book 1, Roz teaches essential lessons and pulls on your heartstrings along her many adventures. I read this aloud along with my 7-year-old. She and I both LOVE both The Wild Robot and The Wild Robot Escapes!

Reader, there‘s another important quality that children possess. In addition to being sneaky and smart, they‘re also compassionate.

Roz doesn't disappoint in this sequel either.

Tracyantoon I loved Roz and her forest (and farmland) friends! I read both of these aloud to my kiddos and it was so much fun. 5y

#FebruaryFeels This middle grade series is so fantastic. I read both the books in this series aloud to my kids and they fell in love with it. Begged me to read more (I think they just liked my robot voice 🤖) Roz the robot washes ashore on an island in the first book and makes a home among the local wildlife. The 2nd book Roz gets robotnapped and is forced to work on a farm. She plans a daring #narrowescape to get back home. Highly recommend!

Eggs On my list!!! I love MG recommendations ❣️ 5y

The Wild Robot Escapes by Peter Brown is a piece of modern fantasy. It was written in 2017. This is the second book in a series. It is about a robot names Roz who is stuck on a remote island. She meets some animals who were not the most welcoming, but eventually learns to adapt to her new home. The story follows her along some challenging adventures. Her goal is to find Brightbill and the island. This book sounds really interesting!

I love how this robot showed emotion towards humans and animals. That is not your typical robot.

I read the entire book, The Wild Robot Escapes by Peter Brown. I honestly did that think I would be interested in this book but it caught my eye the first couple of pages. It is about a robot who lived in two different worlds. One being at Hilltop Farms with The Shareefs, and the other his home on the island. He goes through a journey to get back to his home. He travels with his son who is a goose. It ends in a happy ending of him returning home.

#hellothursday @wanderinglynn
1. THE Wild Robot Escapes or Bob, or maybe Uglies I cant decide.
2. I have read hundreds, but I love to read children's picture books before I read them in school.
3. I would say the best thing that has happened this year was starting a new school year and getting a great class of kids.
4. I am looking forward to spending time with my college roommate, who I have not seen in a year or so.

I read the first book several months ago and absolutely loved it. This sequel definitely didn‘t disappoint! Like most great sci-fi sequels, it expands upon the world introduced in the first book. It was interesting to see how the world outside the island‘s boundaries functions. Roz is an amazing main character. I enjoyed the deeper philosophical look into what makes someone human and finding one‘s life purpose.

My daughter really enjoyed this second installment, but I liked the first best. I think it was because the nature of the story had more characters coming & going. There could have been a whole book with just Roz & the family in the opening.

This pic is the sweetest reunion. 💜💜

1. My newest cubicle buddy. Jumped into my shopping bag yesterday when I was buying gifts at the local toy store. 2. Gulp—two years ago! But I still feel like kind of a newbie. 3. I don‘t know about a specialty dish for my city, but since I live in Texas I‘d say breakfast tacos are really popular here. 4. 7:30 am. Still too early. 4. Books of course! So #thewildrobotescapes was a recommendation from my 11-year-old son (again, I love books that my boys pass along!). This is a worthy follow up to The Wild Robot. I love Roz‘s consideration through the novel of her difference and of her purpose. Another great book from @peterbrownstudio. (We saw him speak in the fall, and my boys were so taken with his description of his writing and his demonstration of his art.)

Ohhhhh lucky me! Only my bookish friends would understand the delight of my kids battling to choose between much anticipated books for our next read aloud. 👏🏾👏🏾

I told them it takes so much longer reading more than one at a time, which we just did with our last read alouds, but I suspect that‘s just what we‘re going to do anyway. 😏

Another ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 star middle grade! @peterbrownstudio executed a wonderful continuation of Roz‘s robot life. This book teaches empathy as well as Roz thinks through every decision in her life but without bogging down a young reader.

We gave our #3rdgrade teacher a copy of this on its release week as they had already read #thewildrobot for #gra17 The middle child reports they are loving it!

If you liked The Wild Robot, you will cheer for this sequel. Roz the robot, who came to life on a wilderness island and learned the language of animals, now works on a dairy farm for a widower and his two children. She longs to reunite with her adopted goose son and also fears she will be destroyed if the humans find out she‘s different. But being different is a good thing and can even be a life saver, as Roz learns. A heartwarmer of a story! ❤️

“Roz, don‘t take this the wrong way,“ she began, “but is it possible that you are defective?“ “Don‘t say that, Jaya!“ cried her brother. “No, it is okay,” said the robot. “I have asked myself that same question. I do not feel defective. I feel…different. Is being different the same as being defective?“ “I don‘t think so,“ said Jaya. “Or else we‘re all a little defective.” ❤️❤️❤️

And now for something completely different...The fourth book in my #NewReleaseMadness TBR is The Wild Robot Escapes (released March 13, 2018), the sequel to Peter Brown‘s The Wild Robot—possibly the most heartwarming story ever written about a robot. Although I mostly read ebooks these days (running out of space reasons), I had to get this in hardcover for the gorgeous illustrations. Yaaaay!!! I have really been looking forward to this.

I loved the sequel as much as the first book.

Anything I can think of saying would spoil something in the first book, so I won‘t, except that this wild robot has so much heart in this exploration of family, friendship and courage.

This is a great story for elementary age kids, and well done on audio. I could do without the additional sound effects, but the kids will like it.

Some books can make you giddy & squeal upon arrival. This is one for me! I cannot emphasize how much I loved the first installment and have been anxiously awaiting Roz & Brightbill‘s reunion for what seems eons. I am NOT a crier, but it took every fiber of my being to croak out the final pages of the first book to my kids. At its heart it is an adoption story, so it hit me right in the gut. 💔

Tamra @robinb the first Wild Robot should be included in the “all the feels” category! 😭 7y

The Wild Robot was one of my favorite middle grade reads a couple years ago. This sequel, while not quite capturing the unexpected magic of the first book, does an excellent job continuing Roz the robot's story in a new setting. The illustrations I saw were not final, but with Peter Brown's record, I'm not worried. Out March 13. #netgalley #middlegrade

ReadingRover I listened to the first one and I loved it. I can‘t wait for the audiobook of the second to come out. The narration was great. 7y
