The last two sentences cracked me up!😂
“Just run away!” said the girl. “I ran away once-it was easy! But when I started feeling hungry, so I came home and made myself a sandwich.”

This was a great read! It blended historical fiction and mystery/suspense, which are my favorite genres. I listened to the audio version of this and it was well done.
I‘m getting ready to teach this book to my 4th graders during library. I ordered a used copy and just realized it had a personal message. I love to see the messages people write in books they give to others, but I also get said because I want to know why the owner is no longer the owner. Did they get rid of it on purpose or was it a mistake? I know it‘s silly, but when I get these books I feel responsible to protect them.
This is a great scary book for middle grade readers. There were parts that were truly creepy! I thought the ending fell flat, but it was still a good experience. I know my students will love this.
I gave this book a fair shot. I promise I tried, but I just couldn‘t get into it. I understand that John Green was giving us a look into what it‘s like to struggle with anxiety and OCD, which is great because that is a real struggle, but his books just aren‘t for me.
This book was really sad. It‘s a coming of age story where the main character, Annabelle, discovers how important it is to tell the truth and how destructive lies can be.
So, I just joined a book club with some ladies from work and this is our first book. Many have already finished it and loved it, but here‘s my dirty little secret: I‘m not a John Green fan. 😱 I read the first sentence and began rolling my eyes. However, I am going to keep going because I love to talk about books with others. We‘ll see how this goes. 🤞🏻
How do you explain to someone else why a thing matters to you if it doesn‘t matter to them? How can you put into words how a book slips inside of you and becomes a part of you so much that your life feels empty without it?
