Maisie Dobbs is one of my favorite detectives. I listened to this one and really enjoyed it, but I did feel there was something missing (I‘ll post a spoiler in the comments). I do still love this series though!

I loved this just as much as I did the first time I read it 20 years ago. This falls into the category of “old book friends” for me. Some books feel like home.
What are your “old book friends?”

I was all in for this one. I loved the Russian setting, the clash of old traditions with Christianity, the gender role conflict, the magic, all of it.
I also thought the audio performance by Kathleen Gati was wonderful. I have the next book on hold through Libby, but it‘s a 6+ month wait and I‘m out of audible credits... What to do, what to do...

I read this one many years ago and remember liking it passably, but when I listened to it recently it made me feel anxious.
For a Jane Austen addict I thought the main character was clueless about the period and the consequences of her actions. I do like the idea of the story: a modern woman wakes up in England during the Regency Period.

I loved the sequel as much as the first book.
Anything I can think of saying would spoil something in the first book, so I won‘t, except that this wild robot has so much heart in this exploration of family, friendship and courage.
This is a great story for elementary age kids, and well done on audio. I could do without the additional sound effects, but the kids will like it.

My daughter loves these books, but BLEH.
I‘m not reading her bedtime stories right now so we listened to this one cuddled up together. It was worth a listen for that.

I enjoyed this, but it made my head hurt a few times. Probably not the best choice while #audiohealing from a concussion. However, I do find Neil DeGrasse Tyson‘s voice to be very soothing.
I am a Harry Potter fan, but somehow I had never managed to read this slim volume. Then I found the audio performed by EDDIE REDMAYNE!
It‘s as delightful as you would expect, and even comes with sound effects. This was another Libby listen for me.
