The Power of Moments
The Power of Moments: Why Certain Moments Have Extraordinary Impact | Chip Heath, Dan Heath
From the internationally bestselling authors of Switch and Made to Stick What if a teacher could design a lesson that he knew students would remember twenty years later? What if a manager knew how to create an experience that would delight customers? What if you had a better sense of how to create memories that matter for your children? We all have defining moments in our lives - meaningful experiences that stand out in our memory. Many of these moments are the result of accident or luck but, in The Power of Moments, internationally bestselling authors Chip and Dan Heath ask: why leave our most meaningful, memorable moments to chance when we can create them? With illuminating stories ranging from the experiment in which two strangers meet in a room and, forty-five minutes later, leave as best friends to the tale of the worlds youngest female billionaire, who credits her resilience to something her father asked the family at the dinner table, Chip and Dan Heath identify the elements these flash points have in common and show us how to be the author of richer experiences.

Sharp, concise and relevant - no matter what you do in your day-to-day, there is much to be learned from this short little book. It explores how and why particular moments have such an impact and brilliantly illustrates how to harness that power to drive meaningful experiences. There isn't a single extraneous sentence.

Though, the reference about not attending weddings and graduations on Zoom didn't age well....

I‘m finally feeling like I‘m putting a dent in the stack of books I gathered up from around the house as the beginning of Jan as I really try to crack down and #readmyowndamnbooks! I cheated a bit in April and pulled a couple off the shelf instead of reading just from this stack but progress! Maybe by the end of May, I‘ll have it down to just one level of my cart!

Well, it may not look like it but I did actually make some good progress on the stacks of books I gathered up around the house at the beginning of Jan to finally buckle down and #readmyowndamnbooks. I‘m heading into Feb with only 36 (compared to 40...) and if I don‘t end up with another whack of holds coming in at the library, I‘ll be able to make some progress!

Well worth read on how our best memories are created through singular special, out of the ordinary, experiences. "Delight others with special moments" the authors tell us "and people will remember the entirety of a span of times fondly"

Fast easy listen on Scribd. Good insight that is useful in my work. Nonfiction that focuses on improving customer and employee experiences.

This book wasn't life changing. It could help change your way of thinking about moments in your life. I value every moment and try to capture them with photos. My family makes fun of me because I always have my camera out. Then.....they ask me if I have pics of this or that. LOL

I just finished listening to #thepowerofmoments. It was fabulous! The authors highlight both why moments are powerful and how to cultivate them in daily life. One great quotation (phrasing may not be exact since I was listening and not reading!): sometimes, “We work so hard to get the kinks out that we forget to put the peaks in.” I could do identify! Great, thought-provoking book.

Fun non-fiction about how to create and use memorable moments to increase well-being. The book has a business centeredness, but the ideas can easily be applied to any part of life. #netgalley
