Couldn‘t find this in the kindle library, so I used the tagged which I‘ve also read and enjoyed.
Kindle single from years ago, nonfiction, about Mark Haddon‘s fears of swimming and flying and overcoming them, interspersed with poetry and anecdotes about teaching creative writing. Really interesting collection of stories woven into one narrative and gave me a lot to think about.

Quick little read tonight, I liked it! Very quirky, lots of fun facts and a unique perspective into the the mind of an autistic teenage boy. 3/5
I think everyone should read this book to gain a little more understanding and empathy for people with special needs. This book was super insightful, but also a fun read.
The book was done well, and I liked the conclusion of the story, but the story itself was a bit strange and overdramatic. I didn't really care for the characters, they all need some professional help, but Christopher was great. I think the author can write really well and that's what made this a decent read. I just didn't like the storyline at all, yet I don't hate the book. I don't regret reading it either. It's a weird feeling, if I'm honest.
This was such a strange read. I‘m glad it had a conclusion though. For a while I didn‘t think it would conclude and the author would just stop writing. #scarathlon2023 #scarathlon #mischiefandmayhem
This book had been sitting on my shelf since middle-school…very happy I finally pulled it down to give it a read. A boy (who is described as being on the autism spectrum in publicity surrounding this book, but not explicitly stated by the book itself) sets about attempting to discover who killed his neighbor‘s black poodle. A mystery novel, yes, but one with a brilliant mathematically-minded detective possessing a wholly unique perspective.
One of the top ten most challenged books from 2015

In this book, the main character Christopher lives day by day on the Autism spectrum. When his neighbors dog named Wellington gets murdered, he is determined to figure out who committed the crime. The current antagonist of the story is Christopher's inability to understand human emotions since it makes it harder for him to figure out the killer. Christopher has an alphabetical list from A-R describing what society seems abnormal about him.
Realized I‘ve had this on my shelf for years and never actually read it, so finally got around to do that. wasn‘t what I was expecting, major plot twist too but it was good.
1 tagged. Made me feel uncomfortable and disoriented which is probably the point.
2 no - I need to let the bookshelves speak to me!
3 The Thirteenth tale, The Starless Sea, or any Hannah Swenson mystery books (I'm sad I'm all caught up now)

I absolutely looooved this book!! After a neighbours dog is murdered a young boy with autism make it his mission to find out what happened to Wellington ❤️ This book was inspiring, captivating and just all around amazing! @Jemmygem Thank you for lending this to me 🥰
This was the perfect book to listen on our road trip today. I can't believe this book was published 19 years ago and I just got to it now. It was an insightful look into the mind of a young man with autism.
Very good read. The characters have real qualities are written in a very real environment. It is truly interesting to see through the eyes of another, especially in this case where Christopher goes through difficulties that much of the world may not. Very emotional if the reader thinks about the events that have occurred even if they were not written in such a way. This is a project worth reading.
So so so good. Perfect boom for a lazy day with a bowl of Dot‘s Pretzels.
very interesting but sometimes hard to keep up with, which was probably the point
My hubby took the kids out for the day so I could relax. This is my plan. I know I am late to game on this one, it looking forward to it.
Christopher conducts an investigation on who killed his neighbors dog.
I really enjoyed the way the main character explained things from his viewpoint.

I've kind of been randomly selecting books from my shelves to read lately. Didn't know what it was about going in but it was a lovely read. ❤
Put these two books up on the #litsylove trading doc if anyone is interested.
Miss tortitude is making blanket biscuits and keeping me company while I read this morning. Loving this one so far.
I know this book is well loved on Litsy, but it's not the book for me. I gave it over 50 pages, and it still wasn't grabbing me, I was actively looking to read anything else instead of picking it up again. I'm sure it's a case of not the book but me.
Book 132
I've seen the play adaptation, so the story wasn't unexpected but was thoroughly enjoyable. The imperfect perspective of the protagonist is sweet and charming and seeing his difficulties navigating the world broadened my compassion for and understanding of autism. The ending isn't completely satisfying and leaves some questions unanswered, probably due to Christopher's perspective. But a highly- recommended, five-star read.

Absolutely outstanding. This is a book everyone should read. Being able to look into the life of a young teen with autism as he faces life's challenges was so interesting. The author did a great job of creating a character that you truly care about.
This title was mentioned in The Overdue Life of Amy Byler. My teen and I listened when we were in the car together and enjoyed it.
Picked up this interesting story today at a local Little Free Library.
Have you read it?
A 15-year-old boy with autism has his whole orderly world threatened when a dog dies in the neighborhood. Christopher goes out to investigate this mystery the only way he knows, like his favorite investigator Sherlock Holmes, with logic, patterns, and a diagram that he always keeps in his pocket.
Well, it's the last day for #bookspinbingo and #littenlisten. I'm going to try and knock this one out to finish off the month. Fortunate for me, I have the day off.

Christopher Boone (narrator and protagonist) is a gifted mathematician.

I ended up choosing this book next because a teacher friend told me she was obsessed with the story.
I'm a little ways in and it's definitely enjoyable! I like that the author is giving me enough plot twists to his story to keep me engaged.
Day 9 #MayCharacters
Prompt: Marginal
Christopher is an autistic boy who struggles to integrate himself in society but simply wants to solve the mystery of his neighbor's dead dog.

What a beautiful play! With a few lines I was completely encapsulated in Christopher's world and it evoked such honest feeling and emotion. His journey throughout the play was its own sort of odyssey. I would absolutely love to see this performed.

The main character in this book, Christopher, is always honest, although the people around him keep secrets and tell #Lies.
