Happy for info- it may be a glitch?
Chrissyreadit @MissinginAction has this happened before? It looks like people have been able to request to follow you back. 4y
TheAromaofBooks I'm not sure where it shows up on the app. On desktop, there is a button that says “Block“ and right next to it is a button that usually says “Follow“ but says “Request“ when the user is private. 4y
Librarybelle From my experience, when you request to follow someone who has the private setting, that person has to grant your follow request. The three dots mean they have not granted the request yet. Hope that helps! 4y

Chrissyreadit @Librarybelle @TheAromaofBooks thanks! Maybe I requested them and did not realize? I went through my followers to follow back so maybe it is there. I always find private on Litsy a little disconcerting. 4y
GingerAntics Honestly, I turned private account on after Litsy started the “follow suggested users” thing. My phone would blow up every day with people following me on litsy (so much so I missed actually comments) and then 99% of them would never post anything or do anything. If they have to ask permission they‘re far less likely to send the request. I went from many requests a day to maybe a few a week. 4y
GingerAntics To me, it avoids the people who just want huge follower numbers to feel popular. I don‘t get comments like “first comment!” or “follow for follow” as I don‘t always follow the people who follow me. The people I follow I have similar interests or reading habits with. I just don‘t do the popularity contest of social media. The private setting is probably the only reason I didn‘t leave Litsy after they added the “follow suggested users” option. 4y
Chrissyreadit @GingerAntics I discovered that al older users disengaged during these past few months I was getting less in my feed. I love seeing a wide range and I love book conversations. When I followed back a bunch I had a busy feed again. In my case big numbers made sense for how to see many different posts compared to proportion who do not post. 4y
Chrissyreadit @GingerAntics I‘m also ok with choosing private- I‘m guessing somehow you have a feed. But I don‘t understand following me but I can‘t follow you. 4y
GingerAntics Yeah, that is kind of weird. Maybe they just haven‘t been on lately. Trying to get school started and things have a lot of people stressed right now. I feel overwhelmed when I have a ton of new posts in the morning or when I log into Litsy after a long time. The people I follow I generally have/have had discussions with. 4y
Chrissyreadit @GingerAntics I can see that- you‘re very active. 4y
GingerAntics I think everyone does social media a little differently. I‘m far less active on IG and I can‘t remember the last time I posted on FB. 4y
juliekay Yes, if someone clicks on the Request, then I see that they asked to follow me. All I have to do is click that it‘s ok, and they can be added then. Thanks for asking. 4y
Chrissyreadit @MissinginAction for some reason it does not let me click to follow you. 4y
juliekay I just checked and had my settings on private. Maybe that had something to do with it ? I changed it now. Sorry for any mixup. 4y
Chrissyreadit @MissinginAction it‘s ok! I just usually could make a request and this time I couldn‘t. 4y
